Gen 3 19 jhp ftf problems

End of March I picked up a brand new Glock 19. After running about 300 rounds of various ball ammo without any problems I decided to start running some defensive ammo thru it to find out what it likes. Immediately I started having problems with the 9th or 10the round feeding in the factory mags. Did some research and found the problem or so I thought was with the 2183 followers. Called Glock and they promptly sent out two new # 3 followers. Well I am not having problems with the 9th or 10th round now but I am getting ftf's on rounds 4-6 periodically. Like every other mag. Ammo I have tried has been 124 gr +p's in Speer gold dots, federal HST's and the Rem Golden Sabers. Ball ammo still runs like a top out of it. Anybody have any suggestions on something I can do myself to rectify this? Quality SD ammo isn't exactly cheap. I'll try and attach a pic below to show you what I am looking at. I appreciate any help you all could give me.

Failure to feed or fire? What does the malfunction look like?

Feed. Basically the nose of the round is hitting the bottom of the feed ramp and sticking. I apologize for the poor pic quality it was bright out today and all I had with me was my phone.

Bah, I should learn to read better

OP, I was going to mention the 9mm6 followers but it looks like you already got them. All of my Gen 4 standard capacity mags all have the 9mm6 followers. My LE-marked standard capacity mags have 9mm4 marked followers, and they feed my HST and Gold Dot rounds just fine.

OP said he got them changed out to the 9mm ones.

Not the same, but I picked up a new Gen 3 G26 last month and so far i've tried Hornady Critical Defense, Federal HSTs, and Winchester Ranger Ts and have had no issues.

I'm going through the exact same issue with the 9mm3 followers at rounds 4-6 with Federal HSTs. Here's a copy paste about what I'm currently trying to do:

I'm having the same issue with my Jan 2014 Gen 3 G19. I had the 2183-2 followers, which had FTF when 1 hollowpoint was in the mag. Then, I replaced the 2183 followers with 9mm3 followers. Now these fail to chamber large cavity hollowpoints (Federal HST are problematic, although Ranger-Ts work fine) at bullets 4, 5, or 6. I have some newer 9mm6 followers coming in the mail. I read on another thread that some slight sanding to the magazines need to be done to fit the 9mm6 followers (sanding 1mm of plastic off near the feed lips), but afterwards it should work as intended.

OMFG. It's a GLOCK1!1! They NEVER malfunction, because I have several an I'm a Glock EXPERT. You must be limpwristing or doing something wrong to make the Glock malfunction, because they never do. Not knocking the gun, just the fanboys.

OP already stated he replaced the followers.

Seriously though. I don't have any specific fix in mind but maybe check the feed ramp for burrs or polish it. I know it's a pain to send a gun in so I'd be more likely to try and fix it myself if it doesn't void the warranty. I'd check to see if the follower was binding somehow. Since you mentioned it has the issue on round 4-6. Maybe new followers in new mags is causing an issue.

Anyway, good luck with getting it figured out so you have a gun you can rely on.

I tried, made no difference. The hollowpoints are being caught on the front magazine lip before even reaching the feed ramp.

                    Hmm thanks for sharing.

My G19 Gen3 w/9mm#3 followers eat up Gold Dots 124gr +P just fine. I have a few more boxes to cycle through, so far I've no issues. I havn't tried HSTs, can't get my hands on them so I really can't chime in.

Let us know how the 9mm6 followers work. It's a shame that Glock isn't addressing this issue accordingly.

Will do. USPS says they should get in on Saturday, so I will know then.

So stupid how in CA we get the junk 10 rd mags. My G19 does the same thing. Solved it by getting a g26 so I could use correct double stacked mags.

People laugh at lc9s and Ruger for safeties and long trigger pull, but mine never had this issue like the glock nosedive. Feeds and ejects powerfully. I trust it more than my g19 any day of week.

Thanks diese I guess I will order some 9mm6 followers and see how that goes. I ordered a few more factory 10 rounders and they should be here tomorrow but I don't know what followers they will come with. I haven't tried polishing the feed ramp but, it does feel smooth and there are no noticeable burrs anywhere on it.

Any thought to buying some blocked 15 rounders? jesticearms.com

Unless those cause more problems than the OEM 10 round commie mags.

BTW. Anyone have problems with the 10 round 23 mags? I have a 23 so I'm hoping there isn't an issue with those and JHP .40 ammo.
