why no 10 round single stack 9mm?

I would love to have a full size or even compact 9mm with full California capacity. It seems the only ones available are in S/A 1911 style. I had an EMP a while back and I sold it due to S/A manual of arms. I would love to have a Striker or DAO (no damn safeties) polymer framed gun designed around 10+1 with slim, full size grips.

Thats the problem. And that request is a Victory for the Feinstein's-Schumer's, Levi-Boxers et al: That we long for 9mm SINGLE STACK 10 round guns....

Slowly but surely they are changing our mindset.

If I remember correctly, I saw an article recently, explaining this and other 9mm round issues. There's no single stack 9mm magazine because 9mm cartridge is slightly tapered - as you can see on the diagram below, from 9.93mm at the base to 9.65mm at the mouth of the case - inherited directly from its predecessor, the 7.65x21 Parabellum. As a result, the Luger pistol with the single stack magazine had a lot of feeding issues. It is much less of an issue in double-stack staggered magazines, that's why most popular 9mm guns are double-stack.

UPD: Here's an original article -

Because buying a 9mm single stack (in the rest of the world) is like buying a corvette with a 4 cylinder engine.

G19 is never a single stack, the standard 15 round capacity magazine is basically blocked to accept only 10 rounds, so it's basically a reduced capacity double stack

SR9 used to be on the list, was damned skinny.

+1 to gottmituns' comment, wanting a 10rd gun is starting to display symptoms of the bradies winning.

Single stack is more comfortable for some shooter. Where is this limited 10 talk coming from. But with single stack, it's the way it is.
I see plenty threads about gun for small hands or shortest reach, and this is where singles stack will fit them and among others.
