^^ +1, finding good 10mm ammo is 1/2 the challenge... without good 10mm loadings you pretty much have a glorified .40 S&W

I highly recommend loading your own 10mm ammo... everything is pretty much the same as doing .40 including the die set.

I would be saving your brass if I were you as its much harder to source than the common calibers.

40 is already noticeably "snappier" than 9mm or 45 to my hands...

If you run downloaded 10mm ammo its going to feel very similar to a 40, if you run full house 10mm loads, you will definitely notice a difference compared to a standard 40 loading.

Bottom line its all about the ammo... same for 357 loadings, its one of the biggest reasons to load you own, control.

Shop around a bit more... that sounds on the high side.

I've seen Buffalo Bore for $25-$35 / 20

And Underwood for about $35-$40 / 50

Plinking ammo cost around the same price you would pay for .45 ACP... $20-25 / 50

Save your brass and eventually you will start reloading, and would cost you about $8/50 for plinking ammo using plated bullets.

I didnt recommend buffalo bore for a reason. It costs to much vs similar options out there. Hardcast go doubletap or underwood, expanding go federal trophy bonded or hornady, plinking you have armscor and ppu. Only thing BB does better is the 155gr barnes all copper they get it going the fastest.

An inexpensive reloading kit is a good investment. Maybe go over to the reloading section and ask what you should get, just don't let your head explode when reading all the good advice.

If you dont reload, you should cancel the 10mm order immediately. Its a reloader caliber. I sort of just assume people load for it when buying one... the cost is wild.

Its cheaper to buy a full reloading setup than one range trip with a 10mm. After that, its about as affordable as factory 9mm to shoot.

Before buying PPU 10mm ammo, you should know that the brass sucks. Lots of 10mm reloaders know to stay away from it because it's really thin compared to other brands, and often won't provide enough tension to hold a bullet in place. If you can find Federal or Armscor for a little bit more, it might be a better deal because you can actually sell the brass for 10-15c per piece if you don't plan on reloading yourself.

1300 fps out of the box. Many have confirmed their claim on speed.

You are going to love 10mm. Got KKM's 6" for my g20, 4.70" for g29.
I'm Going to buy KKM 40 S&W barrels at stock length for each next. Got my full prepper stock of .40 SW.

I don't know if I'll ever reach my desired 10mm ammo fully stocked status.
Starting the 10mm reloading process, got 3lbs Longshot, 2000 starline brass
1000 extreme plated 180gr bullets.
Waiting for 180gr. XTP's to start coming out of Hornady's factory.

Just handled the Glock 17 had shipped from out of state to my ffl for DROS, feels like a kid's water pistol.
Should've just bought barrels and mags for the G23 and G27 to go from .40 to 9mm

Save the brass, resize full length because Glock barrels are .007 wider in the chamber. Glock barrels can handle hot loads. But really hot stuff will batter the frame so install a heavier spring (22 pounds. Stock springs are 17)

For me my Glock 20 is an incredible hunting and fighting tool. My reloads pump out 700 foot pounds of hard metal piercing, door penetrating lead in a 15 round magazine. 10MM has more energy at 100 yards than a .45ACP has at the muzzle. And they run .40 no problemo.

Yeah, reloading is the ticket....if you have to buy some, go with Underwood. Kevin's good people and he is a 10MM freak like us.




Even the Glock 29 can have a longer barrel for increased speed and run the 15 round mags.

"Lay Away" or "in Jail"?

Lay Away just seems really dumb, regardless, unless it is some sort of pre-order/back-order that isn't really "Lay Away".

Buying a cheap gun that shoots pricy ammo on "Lay Away" is like having kids you can't afford to feed, much less house, birthed at free County Healthcare, except that you aren't contributing to suffering of others with the lay away gun.

I'm guessing you don't got a free shooting range either. Well, at least you didn't get a big outdoor bred puppy with no place to run the dog.


But check out the 9mmX25mm hi-velocity round and 9" drop in barrel for that round at Lone Wolf. IIRC they are getting well over 2000fps with just 6" barrel.
