G19 barrels fit the 26, g17 barrels dont. G23 barrels fit the 27, g22 barrels dont. Im not sure about any others.

I have a Kimber in 10mm.
I reload therefor I can shoot it to its full potential or load all the way down to those lobbing across the alley slow speeds that allow you to see the bullet when the sun is just right. (USI Concord)
As for "hella", that's from 1981.

You are asking good questions. 10 mm is more than a .357, close to a .41 magnum. much more than .45 ACP. Manufactured ammo is limited to Underwood,Double Tap and a few others,and is hella expensive.

Price is relative. Sure, if you compare it to bulk 9mm, it's expensive. But if you compare it to premium factory ammo for rifle rounds, it's cheap. When you figure in what it is, the pricing is fair -- what it should be.

My only issue for 10mm is the scarcity of ammo.
If you want to shoot 10mm, you have too reload.
Get a Dillon SDB in 10mm and you're set for life.

Proper 10mm ammo is more powerful than any .45acp +P load, and comparable to .45 Super.

.45acp is an antique and should not be referenced in 'modern' discussions.

.45acp +p is really the 'modern' version of the cartridge.

I mean, who would pass up +p loadings for dangerous 'game'?

Still way less than 10mm, and usually a round or three less per mag.

As for .45 super, it will recoil similar to 10mm while using lower chamber pressures and making a bigger hole.

Hunting pig or deer w/ Underwood Gold Dots or their 255gr hardcast for bear should have all the bases covered for short range shooting w/ a duty automatic.

Social work can use any load from acp through Super w/ a lotta loads and a bevy of bullets whether you roll your own or not.

You'll need some different recoil spring weights to take full advantage.

Seriously? 9mm is older. 30-06 is older. 357 is close in age. There's nothing lacking in a 45. The marine corps, swat teams, and lots of other elite forces use 45's and even shoot it out of, mirable dictu, a 1911. Modern bullet designs have made the 9 and 45 even more effective. 10mm and 45 are really two entirely different category of rounds even though they are fired out of same pistols. 10mm, in full loadings, is rather impractical for duty/carry usage. Lighten it up to manageable levels and it isn't all that much superior to a 45.

Yeah....my 10MM Carbine is sweeeeeet.! High velocity even with range ammo because the 16 inch barrel really ramps up the speed.

I had a G29, great gun, but I don't reload and ammo was forever a thorn in my side. If it were a G30, I would still have it. In my opinion, if you do not reload you will likely be happier with a .45.

So I just put a G20 on layaway (you guys sold me on one) and I just wanted to know before i go pick it up, is there anything about the 10 that i need to know about? I did some research but came up inconclusive due to the fact that I have gotten numerous different answers on the web. Is the 10 really on par with the .357 mag or is it on par with a lower caliber like the .45acp?

If you are waiting for it, shop for ammo NOW. If you reload, get some components now.

Factory ammo is relatively scarce. PPU makes really lightly loaded FMJ practice ammo, and Armscor makes FMJ's as well... these are around $19-$22 per box. Remington has FMJ at Cabela's. Selway usually has some in stock as well.

Cabela's has their exclusive 175 grain flexlock Critical Duty load in-stock. There are a few places that have the Hornady 180 grain XTP loaded Custom ammo in stock. Underwood's stock goes up and down, usually sold out.

I am starting out with my Glock29 with a box of 50 Remington, and four boxes of the Hornady Critical Duty and Custom XTP. I bought those from three different places.
