      What a thread, lol.

OP I see you went out and bought a used X-tac that was selling on M4carbine. You should be happy with the purchase.

You would have been happy with a Wilson, Hawk, Brown, Guncrafter. You have to do your own research and look at what YOU want on a 1911.

A lot of replies have been strictly personal opinions on what that poster likes. I especially like the "nighthawk pistols suck because they rotate gunsmiths" that was especially amusing.

I've owned a 1911 from all Semi-Custom manufacturers and they each all have their own build philosophies, you just have to research.

It also comes down to what you plan to do with the firearm. You want a custom SVI or a Heirloom precision for the range or to sit in the closest and show off to family members? Or do you want a work horse 1911 to shoot competitively?

Either way I think you did fine with your X-tac purchase. You know you own a 1911 that has been extremely well built yet it doesn't come with all sorts of extra bling a lot of people seem to think you need.

I bought that Wilson because I wanted something I could play with and have fun with... I ha a few browns, Baers, etc... I also bought a Joe Chambers pistol that I am going to be waiting 5 years for. As most folks know, I'll probably go through several pistols until I find the one that works best for me! At this point I am leaning toward Wilson and Brown the most but, I have not had a NH or Crafter yet... I'll get around to it!!

After owning Baer, Brown, Wilson, Nighthawk, and Guncrafter, Nighthawks have become my favorite. I was up to 4 Wilsons now just one remains. I absolutely love my Nighthawks. Zero problems with any of them.

Nice, can you tell me what makes you like them over the rest?

Naw, I would put them on par with a Kimber or Springer... I would take a Baer over them any day if the week.

This as well... I think we are talking two different things. STI is a good base gun if you were sending it off to a smith to have major work done to it... They are also good for gaming but, I don't think you can put Sti on the same page as Wilson, Crafter, Brown, or the likes...

I dont know man, when I saw them up close in person, I really was not impressed at all by the pistols they are offering... Thats just one mans opinion

No need to get bent about it... They just were not my thing...

My first and only 1911 is the GCI American and when compared to my friends Nighthawk and Ed Brown I would take it every time

Les Baer w/ 1.5" guarantee @ 50 yds. You may find prettier guns, but you wont find one that's any more accurate. Shooting it will spoil you.
