Time for a high end 1911... Help

Hey guys... I just trimmed the fat from my 1911 collection. I have a few left and and looking for some direction. I sold the majority of my Kimbers and Springers.

Here is what I have sitting in the safe and cant make up my mind on what to do.

Kimber Team Match II 9mm
SA TRP Full Rail
Brown Kobra Carry
Baer Primier II

I still have a Kimber Custom pistol that I did a ton of work on, a Range Officer 9, and a a TRP half rail that I am selling.

I would like to buy a Wilson or something to that effect (maybe an SVI)? Do you all think I should keep the full rail and TM? Get rid of them?

More importantly than what to sell (thats gotta be my decision), what do I buy? I am a range shooter, I do not compete, I do not carry a 1911, I just want something thats got some cool machine work and will out shoot me (not that I can out shoot what I currently have). I have had an oppertunity to get a Brown SF pistol but, I am not sure that fits what I want.

Anyway.. guidance, help, advise, is always much appreciated!

if you are not going to compete why buy a sti or svi? i'm not trying to sound mean so let me clear up my question. Years down, are you going to be looking at the that competition pistol knowing and appreciating it's competitive value, never have competed? Or do you want something classy full of craftmanship you can pass down. if I had the money I would go with something like a heirloom precision.

PS. I have nothing against competition pistols, i own a couple. but i don't think they are what the op is looking for.

There's so many options to choose from. But if it was my money I'd probably go with a Wilson. They really do make some of the best 1911's.

Get a Caspian frame and slide and have a reputable gunsmith put on the features and parts that YOU like on a 1911. You have a very good collection of 1911's, but they are all factory guns built the way the factory wants to sell them to you.You should have a feeling by now of which sights, beaver tails, safeties, magwells,checkering,and finish you like.
Have it built the way you want, and it will be a firearm you will cherish that much more.

I wish I could help you based on owning any high end 1911's but the closest I have owned was a Les Baer Custom Carry that I eventually sold anyways.

However, based merely on what I have shot (I have shot a few Wilsons, Nighthawks and Browns on many occasions), the one at the top of my list is a Nighthawk Custom Talon. I am still working my way to get one.

There are many here who are not too impressed with a Nighthawk. Its resale value does not seem to be on par with a Wilson, which seems to sell used for just a few hundred dollars below MSRP. But I will stick to what I know unless I learn something new based on my actual experience.

Good luck! As many here would also advise, they would all be very similar in quality once you hit the $3,000 mark.

Cabot looks so nice but, 10k for the Jones... just not worth it imo. They are gorgeous though

You should give a budget. Without it, It's hard to know what to suggest.

Appears that you live in IL? If so, top of the list is a WC Tactical Supergrade.
Then WC Tac Elite.
NHC is better than than a WC CQB
SA Pro is nice if you can live with a hard trigger.

Even though I am not competing, SVI still make some of the finest 1911/2011s out there.

Heirloom is very nice to but, all my Colt pistols are mint (all NM 70 seris or pre 70 series pistols). I dont even list those as they are safe queens and will already be passed down.

Anyone I talk to about SVI only has great things to say... Wilson and Brown as well. Thats kinda why I am leaning toward a Wilson.... Just hard to make a decision.
