Ya there's no need for anymore than 6 rounds if your shooting at a target or a Brady. More reliability and accuracy are about as much of a myth as the 45 acp being a man stopper.

Unfortunately the DA triggers are very heavy.

TC Contender could be great for putting dinner on the table. My neighbor used to get sub moa groups at the 100 yard line back when Fish Canyon was open.

Id classify contenders as very practical for hunting and some target shooting.

Must be reading this wrong, 45 acp isn't a man stopper? i would probably stop if hit with a 45

well im just saying with a single action trigger you have the capability of more accuracy than say a DA only service pistol with a standard trigger for us human shooters that is. Godly and demigod shooters with no absolutely no error can use whatever they want they can just throw a rock at you.
Slapping an upper onto a lower is not "building" an AR-15.

What part of "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED" do you illiterate pawns not understand!?

Impractical pistol, that cost a lot of money? 1911s come to mind as well as S&W magnum revolvers.

I like revolvers, I have a few of them, including a pair of single action Rugers and a blackpowder 1858 Remington replica. You can't get more impractical than that!

Of my modern revolvers, I think that with speedloaders/moonclips, they can be "practical" but if it were a duty weapon, I'd choose a semi any day.

The 1986 Miami Shootout, and the 1970 Newhall Massacre show how impractical revolvers are.

In the Miami shootout, one agent was single loading (!!) this revolver, got two rounds in and then had to decide ... do I return fire with just the two rounds already in there, or keep loading? If I close the cylinder, which way did it turn again? Will I get two rounds off, or four clicks before the rounds fire? (This is from the FBI training video that showed the shootout and interviewed the agents after). One agent emptied his 9mm semi, and did a New York reload to a revolver, fired one round and decided "this is dumb" and switched back to his semi and reloaded it.

In the Newhall massacre, one of the dead CHP officers was found with his half loaded .357 in hand. It was after this incident that the CHP started issuing speedloaders.

So back to the topic on hand, a blackpowder revolver is nice and impractical, you can also just order one online and have it shipped to your door.

My Brother Has a Desert Eagle in 50 AE. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn door with it at 10 feet. Its a good example of something that actually looks bigger in real life than in a movie. I was looking at the reloading data for it last night and it can trow a 300g slug at 1450 FPS, that is impressive.

It has a rotating locking bolt like an AR-15.

If 2 grand falls in my lap one day i might have to get one so i can DW them and hurt my self.

btw. Holy crap 4 DE's, you sir are a true enthusiast.

Impractical, you say? What about a Bren Ten? Or maybe a Tokarev?

And that's the reason why I said in my post, pull the hammer back, and you're good to go.

It's a lot easier than attempting to rack a slide if you've got arthritis.

Revolvers? Impractical? Here's a revolver whose double and single action pull will blow a lot of guns out of the water. 8 round capacity, so it matches single stack .45s. Reloads with moonclips are quick as well.

I'd say the FN FIve-Seven. Such a hipster gun.

I stand by my statement that revolvers are impractical. Showing a bunch of targets and reciting old myths doesn't make them any more practical.

It's like making an argument that the Corvette ZR1 is a practical car by stating the quarter mile time and slalom speed. While it makes the car a blast to drive and competitive on the track, it doesn't make the car practical. I would love to have one, but not as my one and only means of transportation.

While guys like Jerry Miculek make tricked out revolvers look cool at competitions, almost all law enforcement agencies issue semi-automatic pistols as their duty sidearms.

                            Practical vs. impractical.

While 8 round moon clips are certainly an argument here in CA, being that we're limited to 10 rounds in any gun, most people have access to guns with 12-20 round mags. Dropping mags is still easier than emptying a cylinder. Revolvers require several movements to reload even with speedloaders and moon clips. It requires a lot more training to operate a revolver quickly. Much more training than most will ever have.

This isn't a practical/impractical argument so much as it is one about the limitations. A revolver is a practical defensive weapon. A decent pistol can fire hundreds or thousands of rounds between failures. A revolver will do the same. I think it comes down to limitations and training. Most people will never begin to approach the speed of reloads with revolvers that can be trained fairly easily with pistols.

Again, I like my revolvers just the same as my pistols. But I can't make the argument that revolvers, which require more training and fine motor coordination to reload and hold fewer rounds are superior to modern pistols for defensive purposes.

                                What about black powder?

My fun gun would be a Ruger Alaskan in .454 Casull. After a box of full house loads, full house .45LC feels like 9mm! Definitely fun if you like recoil and flames!

                                WTB used AK MFER.
