I don't currently own one yet as I already have several high end 1911s but I have handled and shot several of their models. I'm very impressed with the product they produce with the price point they sell at. Their entry level models come with many features you pay a premium for. I discovered in my research RIA manufactures frames and parts for several well known 1911 companies. I don't hesitate to recommend RIA if a first time buyer asks my advice.

Great starting point and good to build on as you develop your knowledge of the 1911.

I have 2 and will be purchasing a third soon. You can't go wrong (if it's in good operating condition) for $300.00
Is the RIA a Series 70 platform?

        Yes.

That's a good price and worth picking up. If you decide to sell it you should at least break even. RIAs have a pretty decent fit though you can see where they have to cut corners to keep the price down. Finish is mediocre and the trigger isn't that great but still good. They're still a good shooter and reliable so if you want a cheap 1911 then they are hard to beat.

I just brought home the tactical RIA 1911A1 a few weeks ago. Malfunctions only happened with factory mag. Swapped out for McCormic and Wilson 10 rd. mags & everything was GTG.

My Wife has one and she and I both love to shoot it.
The RIA keeps right up with my Kimber Custom II. The RIA takes the same Chip McCoormick mags as my Kimber.
            Buy it !

For $300 I'd be on it. RIA are GTG. I have the Tactical model. Good bang for the buck.

I believe the 1911 GI models are. Not sure about the 2011 models.

I would certainly say they are great.

I have a RIA 1911GI that's been slightly modified, and it runs great. I say go for it!

I am sure that I would pick it up for that price. I am new to 1911's and just purchased my first. I looked at a New RI but went with an SA because it had more features. But 300 seems like an enticing price.

This guy is right! Great deal.

I have owned one for 2 years now and have no complaints whatsoever. My 1911 is flawless and the customer service is amazing. They will answer any question you have.

                        Highly recommended! Buy it!

Can't go wrong, especially for $300. I'd say go for it.

as already said many times, for $300...GO FOR IT.
I spent few days researching the RIA 1911 and was set on the tactical model as you get much more for few more bucks over the GI model. However, I ended up finding a solid deal on a used Kimber. If not for the Kimber, I would have DROS a RIA Tactical

                              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

RIA is made by Armscor who also manufactures the frames and parts for the entry level STI guns like the Spartan. Great bang for the buck value in them
