Glock 19 or a second 1911

I'd suggest OP check out the M&P as well. I've only got experience with Glock (I have 5 of them, 21, 23, 35, 34 17) and not the M&P. My first gun was the 21. I didn't check out M&P as I wanted to stick with what I knew, and for magazine interchageability (23 can use 35 mags, 17 and 34 share mags).

If I didn't have any Glocks, I would DEFINITELY look at the M&P lines. But OP asked Glock19 or another 1911, so I stuck with those choices in my advice.

So I don't know Glock inside and out, but I am familiar enough with it to stick with it. I'm actually afraid to hold an M&P 9 because I might like it and that would cost me money.

As for ergos ... well, I have a CZ-75 SA with Hogue wrap around grips that is so amazingly comfortable and ergonomic that nothing I have can compare to it ... so I have a "comfy gun" and then I have my glocks as well (and a butt load of too many other guns, but my only S&Ws are revolvers).

Are any M&P 's on list anymore?

I've never handled the pro but the m&p trigger is nothing like the glock trigger IMO.
I woukd also add that grip angle would be much less of a problem than learning how to shoot a striker fire trigger when coming from a 1911. That can be a humbling experience.

Not picking a fight... Genuinely curious and value your experience/opinion.... or anyone else that wants to comment.

I'm the 1% that likes the way my Glocks look (I admit I prefer my OD's & FDE's to my Black's, but I digress... ). I too prefer the ergonomics of the M&P to Glock (+ it's more similar to my 1911's ergo's).

You're saying the Glock reset (which 1911's don't have, the OP is not trained on, and M&P w/ APEX has if you want a LOUD 'glock-like' reset) realistically could be the difference between Life and Death?
Any studies or stats to reference which support that, or is the glock reset really just training / muscle memory due to the fact that you were already accustomed to the Glock platform when you tried the M&P ?
Wait a minute, honestly can't recall if my 1911 has a short/LOUD reset... got to check that. I know my M&P Pro has a short reset (stock, no APEX), although it's not as LOUD as my glocks (that's what I meant
by "glock-like" w/ APEX). I'd bet I could do a mag dump on my M&P Pro just as fast (perhaps faster, still testing speed/accuracy for uspsa) as my G34.

I'm sitting here measuring the reset on my G34 vs my M&P Pro. I will say without getting out a measuring device, the reset on my G34 is no shorter than on the M&P. In fact, it's very close and may be exactly the same
(although the Glock is louder), which tells me that you could do a mag dump on the M&P just as fast as a G34 too... Unless, of course, you have trained to wait to hear that CLICK!!! before you squeeze
the trigger again. If so, you would definitely benefit from the APEX (I believe the primary target audience for APEX is Glock users).

- The M&P has the same grip angle as the OP's 1911. A Glock does not.
- Some people (myself included) believe the M&P has better ergonomics than the Glock.

Yet, the Glock is clearly superior because the reset is louder (?).

the reset in my m&P9 versus my friends G19 feels it happens at the same time, BUT the G19 has a louder and a more prominent feel on the reset

i do not have the apex trigger i have the Standard one that everyone hates btw, i dont mind it as is tho

You're not marrying it. Buy one and if you don't like it, sell it.

I have a 1911 and bought an G19 to accompany it. If I were to buy a second 1911, it'd have to be one that's nicer than the one I currently own, to make it worth while.
