Im having the same dilemma, but a 9mm 1911 instead. I have some 9mm ammo but not gun for it. I'll probably end up getting whichever I get a better deal on.

The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals.
Well, when there aren't enough criminals,
one makes them.
One declares so many things to be a crime that it
becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws.

I own a 1911 and a Glock19. If I was you and already owned a 1911, I'd get the Glock. This is really a question only you can answer though. For SHTF, glock all the way.Comment

SHTF? Glock all the way. We have a TRP and a Les Baer UTC. Fantastic 1911's, also have early G19 & G23 15+ flawless years of enjoyment and performance. Just bought another G19 Gen4. Why? Because at the end of the road, Glocks have their reputation that is well deserved and here in Kalifornia, who knows what not will be available next. 1911's are awesome, but Glocks are the truth.Comment

glock 19 all day long.....
the 2 guns you are in a dilemma over are IMO the best 2 handguns ever made. you have a 1911...so get the glockComment

Can never have too many 1911s or Glocks. Tough call. I'd probably go with the G19.
I've owned a G19 and liked it. Currently own a 17 and 26. My next handgun is probably going to be a 1911 to replace the one I sold recently. Maybe a Browning Hi-Power after that.Last edited by tacticalcity; 03-07-2014, 7:53 PM.Comment

Pure opinion. Even if it were true, which I do not agree with, there are much more critical concerns when choosing a defensive handgun than whether it is comfy. A gun fight lasts fractions of a second...if you're lucky. A few minutes if not. A shorter pull, and easily detectable trigger reset which the Glock has is going to come in much more handy during those few seconds than a grip that feels better and looks pretty.
Lets face it. 99% of the time what a Glock hater really hates is the looks. They'll write 10 page essays trying to blame it on other things. But the truth is, it's usually that they they don't like how the gun looks. They know that's silly, but they can't get passed it. So they blame it on something else, usually just as silly. I used to feel the exact same way. I got over it.
I like the Glock because it works. It works better than anything else I have compared it to...and I have looked long and hard for something better. When I eventually find something better, I'd be just as "fanatical" about liking that! It just hasn't happened yet. Lots of things come very close. The M&P is one of those things. Just not close enough.Last edited by tacticalcity; 03-07-2014, 8:08 PM.Comment
