Glock Plugs, Unnecessary?

I believe the "Reason" that Glock put that hole there was ... they didn't want to bother filling it in.

Consider this ... the frame is molded plastic. The Grip has two requirements, the magazine well to hold the magazine in place and the outside grip area for your hand to hold.

So how do you mold that? Well either the gap between magazine well and backstrap can be filled, or it can be left empty. Filling it costs plastic and money. Leaving it empty means leaving that gap because you can't mold in an empty space (how do you do that? Mold an empty enclosed space?) So, they left it open.

So the reason is cheapness and the fact that it's unecessary to fill or plug it.

imho...it's a manufacturing side effect.

Glock plug is a marketing side effect, but it MIGHT have merit.

you are simply wrong. as stated by another user above, it helps remove magazines that don't fall out on their own. also consider its role in gen 4 with the backstraps. putting in a plug serves no real purpose and takes away those functions.

Hmmm.... We're talking about a < $5 item (not manufactured by Glock), made by multiple sources...
Who might you imagine paid all 3 of these guys to say that and put them on their personal weapons?

Perhaps I'm confused... Are you saying it's impossible to jam a Glock with sand getting into the hole?
Are you saying it's impossible for the back of the grip to interfere with fast mag changes?

I don't have a dog in this fight as well. If you want to believe that LAV (Vicker's Tactical) isn't trying to sell product, that is what you believe.

I just know that if debris is going to get inside of a glock, it will be through the back of the slide, having carried Glocks in real world situations. Never has lint or debris caused my weapon to malfunction due to lack of a butt plug.

I'll stick with Gaston on this one. To each his own.

dude get real its all about marketing and i didn't realize that you had a legitimate concern about dropping your glock in the sahara and getting it jammed with sand and that you are doing tons of critical fast mag changes but still having trouble actually performing a mag change......

Purely a cosmetic thing in my opinion. I do like Talon grips though. I have them on my 19, and I will probably eventually get them for my 21.

The Glock is gtg right out of the box.

I think the gun looks cheap with a hole in the handle so I put a plug in it now it looks better also helps with reloading just a little bit

1. not sure what that picture has to do with your claim that a butt plug in your gun will keep it from getting jammed with sand

2. as far as those three in your youtube video, they make money by marketing and promoting products.
