Gen 3 vs. Gen 4?

Get the gen 4. Better grip options, bigger reversible mag release . Finish is nicer and it comes with 3 mags..

I got a Gen 4 simply for the fact that it has a textured grip and it fits my hand better without any backstrap installed.

Don't be turned off by the Gen 4 extraction issues. An Apex extractor completely solves the problem.

gen 3 all day long. release of the 4th gen was market motivated, it's faux innovation. stick with the basics and what works with none of the ejection issues that i still keep reading about to this day.

Gen4 is not worth all the hassle for what minor differences it may have. Spend your money on a Gen3 and be a happy camper.

Gen3 is a bit large for my hand, that's why I'd rather consider Gen4.... or another brand.

I opted for the Gen 3. The Gen 3 feels great in my hand and I couldn't justify the additional cost for the minor differences on the Gen 4. Gen 4 backstraps would sit in the case, I don't need to switch the mag release, and I could care less about the dual spring (especially when it had problems initially).

I feel the biggest difference between the G26 Gen 3 and Gen4 is the grip. The grip on the Gen4 is smaller than the Gen3 and it fits my hand significantly better.

Same as buying a subcompact Glock 26/27 then immediately adding the mag extensions to make it the same size as a Glock 19/23.

I picked gen 4 for a 17 and 34. Why not? I have gen 3 for 23 and 35 (and a gen 2 G21).

Yeah, it cost more because of stupid SSE. Haven't shot the 34, but the 17 has been good for about 400 rounds so far, including "break in" rounds and two matches. I don't recall any brass to the face.

Some people feel the gen4 trigger is heaver, some people say it's lighter, some say the trigger on the gen4 is more crisp. Shrug. I don't know what to say. I do like the backstraps, though I'm using the medium with beavertail. The small is nice, but I like the medium (ie the gen3 sized) grip anyway because I guess my hands a fat and with no backstrap, I felt like I was digging my nails into my hands in a two handed grip.

Texture is nice. The extra magazine is nice ... or at least it helps lessen the SSE fee sort of.

Is it "worth" the extra SSE fee/hassle? Well for me it wasn't much hassle, just extra fee, but my FFL didn't gouge be too badly. That's up to you. I just figured I'd SSE these while SSE is still OK to do. I can always pick up a gen 3 later if I wanted to.

I prefer the gen 4 due to oversized mag release (stock, and different. Yes I know there are aftermarket) and running without a backstrap is smaller than the gen3. The medium backstrap Is equivalent to the gen3 size. There is however a different angle to it on the gen4

Gen 4 worth the extra IMO. Smaller grip (if needed) better mag release, 3 mags, better stipling, dual recoil spring ect ect.

I don't think SSE or not is an issue with CCW or any home defense issues.

Seriously, if you actually shoot someone, SSE or whatever is the least of the issues you'll be facing. I mean ... YOU SHOT SOME GUY, who really cares what gun you used?

And SSE is perfectly legal, so why should you be hassled for using the gun? It's legally yours to use to defend yourself with.
