I feel the biggest difference between the G26 Gen 3 and Gen4 is the grip. The grip on the Gen4 is smaller than the Gen3 and it fits my hand significantly better.
Try them side-by-side and you'll know what I mean. A lot of people think the Gen4's smaller grip feels better than the Gen3... and I feel this is an especially
important point with the G26, because you don't get a full-handed grip on the gun. Bottom Line: The grip I get with the Gen4 feels much better.

Check out this video at 00:45 - 01:35. This is exactly what I am talking about. Guy makes the same point about the Gen4's grip feeling better.

Do gen4's made in Austria still come with the same tenifer finish as the gen3's?

Before getting a Gen4, I would wait until it establishes a track record for reliability as good as the Gen3. The 9mm Gen3 Glocks are hard to beat in that department.

+1. The Gen4's have only been out for 4 years... Don't want to be too hasty and jump too soon, best to wait another 4 or 5 years until we have some real data to draw on.

I personally prefer the Gen 3s still for some reason. I've owned a couple of Gen4s and ended up selling them.

Especially important with the Glock subcompacts: You need to handle both, side-by-side to see what fits you best.

Remember, the Gen3 grip = Gen4 grip + small backstrap.

                In other words:

                - If the size of the Gen3's grip is PERFECT for your hand, install the small backstrap on your Gen4.

                - However, if the size of the Gen4's grip is PERFECT, you cannot replicate it with a Gen3.

I believe the Gen 4 also comes with a larger/extended mag release over the mini-mag release on the Gen 3.

The wife shot a Gen 4 G19 yesterday at the range (THANKS CAROL!) and she LOVED IT! Way better than the Sig SP2022 she's been shooting. Headed to the range tomorrow night to check it out and get some trigger time (Gen 3 vs XD vs Sig).

Thanks for the link to the YT video too!!!

                  Happy shooting and be safe!

I prefer 4th gen Glock than 3rd gen Glock due to:
*I like the 4th gen texture
                    *Bigger magazine release
                    *Back straps

                      I stand corrected.

I vote Gen3 also for authenticity. Still made where they were first designed. I beleive the Gen4's are made here in the states.

^^^^This.... I do like the optional back straps but I don't use them feels better to me without them and now you can get magwells for them

I know the Gen 4's are off roster but besides being able to change the back straps and having a different texture on the grip, is there any other difference?

The dual recoil assembly and slightly slimmer grip (correct me if I am wrong).

Also a much bigger magazine release. About 3 times the size.

I had a Gen 4 for a while and enjoyed it more than my friends' Gen 3s.

Some of the pros are still using the Gen 3s because they can adjust the recoil spring weight to their loads.

Don't forget all the extraction problems people had, and to a lesser extent still have, with the Gen 4's.

The gen3's aren't perfect, but I trust them more than a gen 4.

No, they are made in both Austria and USA.
