I just bought one for my wife last week, pick it up next friday. I've read just about every review on the web and the only issues I see are the goofy safeties nd the dreaded frame crack. The safeties can be fixed, and if the frame crack in 3000 rounds so what, it's a 130 dollar toy. Some of you spend that much on coffee every month. Not to mention PA will fix it for free. Not every gun in your collection has to be a torture test winner or collectable grade, personally I'd rather have all the wear and tear on a cheepy I don'tcare about. Lighten up and have fun.

Get a .22 that'll be there when your son wants to teach his son to shoot.

Who cares about a junk gun having a warranty. Harbor Freight has lifetime warranty tools, too. Doesn't mean they're worth the trouble.

If the HP22a is better than the Sig Mosquito that I own it's a win for me and my 12 year old son. The mosquito has been a good training tool on how to clear jams, FTF's, FTE's etc, regardless of ammo. I'm sure the Rugers are fine guns but they just weren't for me (personally). To each his own right?

This is not for a SD or HD situation... This is for my 8 year old son so we can go out shooting.

Are you guys missing the op first comment he is taking his Son shooting with a brand new gun that shines bright silver and goes KaBang when you pull the trigger. His kid is leaning safty and shooting with his Pops. Priceless. I wish more dads including mine did this. To me this Raidernation guy is doing his part. I'm sure if the kid likes it, as he gets older and becomes a young man/man. Raider will give him his collection one day And so a tradition starts. I think he is doing the right thing.... My only advice is take lots of pictures, cuz they grow up fast. And the white grips on ebay might look kinda fresh. Let's go Oakland. Lifetime warranty! good point Sickbrad. You hit the nail right on the head! My son and I went out a few weeks ago and he shot his first AR. He loves it!

I need to explain to you why a $125 Phoenix is a piece of junk? Just Google it.

Buy the Ruger .22, you'll have it for the rest of your life. I dont' know why you'd want to start anyone off on such a piece of junk gun. It'd be like teaching someone to drive in a '95 Dodge Neon.

I bought one two years ago, been shooting CCI and Federal bulk packs. The last bulk pack I tried was the dirty Blazer. Its been my alternate target practice gun since I can only afford to bring 100 9MM rounds every range trip (that was before I learned how to reload). Never any issue with this PA pot metal. I've read about that frame being prone to cracking, and I've paid attention to mine when its cleaning time, but so far so good. Over 3K rounds of high velocity ammos and not one hiccup.
I did buy an extra safety switch, since I modded the double safety features, I may need to put it back to OEM in case I need to send it back for warranty replacement.

My HP 22 has been a great little pistol. My M&P 22 is also a great pistol but I have had ftf & fte with certain ammo which my HP hasn't. I also have a Hi-Point C-9 which I did have a jamming problem with but since sending back to Mom the pistol has shot flawlessly. It all boil down to how much you want to spend on a gun but for cheap entertainment the HP & Hi-point are great guns for plinking.
