Get the hp22a and check out the mods on you tube. Personally it is the first gun i let and one who is new to shooting shoot especially if they might be sensitive to recoil. Mine run flawlessly and its super fun. I bring it on every range trip.Comment

I put the hp22 in jail last Saturday. I got the one in the nickel finish. Now all I have to do is find ammo. HahaComment

It is a pretty crappy pistol. You could wait another pay period and get a pretty nice used target pistol from one of the big name manufacturers. I've got a Sig Sauer Mosquito I could be persuaded to part with....damnit, can't do it, can't saddle another shooter with my problem pistol, the Sig is a piece of junk too.Comment

I'm going to buy one nowI have owned the Phoenix .22 for several years. It shoots Blazer ammo without a hitch and is very accurate. Easy to slip into a pocket as well. If you only shoot Stingers and Yellow Jackets once in a while, it will last a long time. If you are worried about the slide becoming damaged due to firing a lot of hyper velocity rounds, you can buy a couple of spare slides for about $35 each from the company. Some time back I purchased a few spare parts that I thought I might need after a while (recoil springs, etc), but so far they are still sitting in my drawer. The Phoenix is not a "high status" gun, but it is small, reliable, accurate, and the clip holds 10 shots. I think that they are great little guns!Originally posted by Intimid8torI don't need one but I might need one.Comment

You have to be joking,Originally posted by jessegpresleyI need to explain to you why a $125 Phoenix is a piece of junk? Just Google it.
Buy the Ruger .22, you'll have it for the rest of your life. I dont' know why you'd want to start anyone off on such a piece of junk gun. It'd be like teaching someone to drive in a '95 Dodge Neon.Originally posted by Intimid8torI don't need one but I might need one.Comment

Enjoy the pistol, Raidernation!
I was at Turner's over the weekend and did not buy it as all they had in stock was the nickel finish, which I can not stand. Otherwise, I would've bought it immediately, having researched the gun and watched many videos about it.
The overwhelming concensus is that it's a great little pistol for the money.
I guess that everyone's entitled to his opinion but I have no idea why some feel a need to bash this firearm. This firearm is apparently quite durable with a lifetime warranty and TheNagantman among others on YouTube had nothing but praise for it.Comment

Thanks ifilef! I was about to get the black one until a guy I was talking to said he had the black one and the finish on the slide started to lose the black after about a couple of thousand rounds so I opted for the nickel finish.
I watch few YouTube videos and people who had it had nothing but good things to say about it so why not.Comment

Thanks for that info, Raidernation! In my case, I really don't anticipate shooting more than a thousand rounds through it, so not as relevant.
They suggested that I place a deposit on the firearm and wait for the black ones to be in. I declined that due to impatience and tales about the Shield and people waiting for that to come in...
Maybe they will have the black in before sale is over. I really do prefer blued/black guns over nickel/stainless, especially for pocket pistols.
However, I may reconsider getting the nickel due to its price point. I will be there again this week before the sale is over and maybe take another look at the nickel.
Thanks!Comment

The only negative is the slide doesn't lock back after the last round is fired.
It is a SA pistol, isn't it? Might there be firing pin problems as a result?Last edited by ifilef; 02-03-2014, 12:07 PM.Comment

If the SR-22 was on the roster, i'd say go for that instead , but since it's not, i'd say the walther 22 or the M&P22 are great alternatives.
The phoenix arms, I was about to buy that , but when I handled it, it just didn't feel right, and a bit cheap. (Thus why I was lucky i got my SR-22 before the Roster BS happened and it dropped off)Be the change that you wish to see in the world.Mahatma Gandhi

It didn't feel cheap to me...I actually thought for the price, it felt pretty darn nice. I thought it was going to be light but actually felt heavy.Comment

I had Turners order me the Deluxe rangemaster kit. The pistol came with a 3" and a 5" barrel. I have never shot it with the 3" barrel after 3 years of owning it. It's pretty acurate with the 5" barrel. And yes, I stick to sub sonic ammo. As for the safety mods, I ordered extra safties so if I ever have to send it in for warranty repairs, I'll just swap out the modified ones for the stock ones. When You Go Home, Tell Them Of Us And Say,
