    Phoenix arms 22

Has anyone here bought the Phoenix arms 22? Turner's has it on sale and want to purchase a 22 so my son can shoot with me at the range.

Or the high point .380 and I say this only because I'm sure it's easier to find ammo

I bought the Phoenix a couple years back. Just remember to shoot standard velocity ammo as I've heard/seen that the pot metal frame does crack if you constantly shoot only hyper velocity ammo. Also, it has a weird double safety but you could easily "fix" that by watching youtube and such. Besides those 2 things that I mentioned, the gun has performed well for me.

Please explain how it's a piece of junk. It's mainly for plinking and just to have fun with.

I have owned the Phoenix .22 for several years. It shoots Blazer ammo without a hitch and is very accurate. Easy to slip into a pocket as well. If you only shoot Stingers and Yellow Jackets once in a while, it will last a long time. If you are worried about the slide becoming damaged due to firing a lot of hyper velocity rounds, you can buy a couple of spare slides for about $35 each from the company. Some time back I purchased a few spare parts that I thought I might need after a while (recoil springs, etc), but so far they are still sitting in my drawer. The Phoenix is not a "high status" gun, but it is small, reliable, accurate, and the clip holds 10 shots. I think that they are great little guns!

Yeah as stated above, the Phoenix is mainly for plinking and teaching my kid gun safety. It sounds like it's good enough and for the price they are selling it for I guess I can't go wrong

I don't have ccw so I don't need to slip anything in my pocket...if I did, I certainly won't use this unless that all I have

At 124 dollars id go for it. Skip the hi point, they only make good carbines.

@s&w - they are going for the same price and ammo for the 22 is so scarce. What do you think? Is Hi point that bad?

Personally I think either gun is a great deal at those prices. 380 is a lot more expensive than 22 so I'd get the 22.

Jessegpressley is right in stating that the M&P .22 is a fine gun. I have one of those as well and it is a real pleasure to shoot. However, its cost is 4 times that of the Phoenix. Depends on if, or when, you are prepared to spend more than $130 for a plinker.

Yeah 380 is expensive, especially just for plinking. 22 is not that hard to find with some effort.

I'm not ready to spend that much since it'll be mainly for plinking and teaching my kid is I will not be purchasing anything more than 125 plus tax...Thanks guys!

You are correct in stating that .22 ammo is scarce (or expensive), but eventually it will become more available and prices will return close to normal. I think that .22 lr is still the way to go for informal shooting,
