1911 Grips

I just jailed my first 1911 today. I'm doing a "pee pee" dance for the next ten days until I can pick it up. Until then, I'm looking for suggestions on cool, functional or completely absurd grips. Anyone have suggestions?

I've already searched Google but I'm looking for someone CG opinions. Thanks!

Really depends on what kinda look you want + features + price range. VZ grips are nice but a bit pricey. If you wanna go for the utilitarian/functional/cheap route, the Pachmayr wraparounds work great (and is a pretty nice substitute to front strap checkering).

i use the pachmayr wraparounds...i also have some of the $10 hard rubber grips you find on ebay that work great

a lot of people are going to reccomend the vz's...they are nice grips but i dont see where the price point comes from

Cocobolo wood grips look nice on any color 1911.

I like the VZ ETC Frag Grips. Not too scratchy. Just enough "stick". Lots of colors to choose from.

I've owned both Cherry and Black. Preferred the black. The zebra and dirty olive look pretty sexy too.

An affordable alternative with a similar look are the grips from Strike Industries. They are plastic, not G10, but they are a nice affordable alternative. Nice grip, good looks, and hold up. The guys over at Strike are good guys who will warranty their products.

I sell the Strike Industries ones but not the VZ Grips. The owner of VZ is a great guy but wants you to buy in pretty large quantity to get wholesale pricing. Just wasn't a good model for me business wise otherwise I happily would. I certainly like his products.

Rassco grips. Laminated wood in every color combo you can think of. Very sharp checkering, so they don't slip. Only $40. I think they are the best buy around. Fantastic quality.

I will second these grips. I have a pair on my sig. Most wood grips slip a little in my hands, these don't.

I'll buck the trend of VZ grips and suggest grips from www.thefinergrain.com or from www.esmeralda.cc. My 1911's wear grips from these two.

Wow some really cool suggestions. Keep em coming! I won't lie, these look like they might not be functional but are pretty cool. I love that the 1911 platform can be thoroughly customized.
