Um...no. Not true. Guns are tools, dude. You use the right tool for the job at hand. If you need a hammer...then, why would you use a screwdriver...you know what I mean? I like 1911s. They work for me and what I need them for. Some people here like SIG, or S&W, or Glock, or HK...ETC ETC. They are all tools. It depends on the shooter. I cannot use a S&W, or Glock, or HK as well as I can use my 1911s or my SIGs. It depends on the shooter and their comfort level with their gun. Training and experience are the most important factors, dude...not penis size. --1911ShooterPhil

"A gun is a tool. No better and no worse than any other tool: an axe, a shovel, or anything. A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it. Remember that." Shane (1953) -
I just spent a little over 8,000 USD on firearms in two months. If I wanted a 1911 of any price, I would buy it.
The simple fact of the matter is I don't buy guns for collection, for looking at, or for any other purpose other than than shooting someone in the event that I need to shoot someone. In that event, I need the firearm to fire, every time, regardless of the ammunition I put in it, regardless of the harsh conditions its been through.

Must be nice to have $8K for gun purchases. Good for you, dude.
But, question...when was the last time you used one of your pistols during a justified shooting for duty/work/self defense reasons? Or...when was the last time you even drew your pistol during a justified duty/work/self defense situation? Do you have a CCW(s) or any other firearms permit(s)? Yes/no/maybe so? How about competition or training? IPSC? IDPA? NRA Bullseye competitions? Yes/no/maybe so? You use your guns for protection, eh?

From Snatch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oK_trZhVdk:
Turkish: "What's a gun doin' in your trousers?"
Tommy: "For protection."
Turkish: "Protection from what? Ze Germans?"

So, you use your pistols for plinking at the range, yeah? Killing zombies around the house in your tacti-cool Gucci-gear? If so, great! But, that's another story, dude...and you may want to be more courteous to those here who use their pistols for shooting in other environments...you know what I mean? Just saying. You can take it under advisement...or not. Your call.
And...dude...the M16A2 I was issued by the US Marine Corps did just fine for me in Iraq in '03. And the AR's I have used since then, in the interesting places I have been since then; as supplied by the cool folks I worked for at the time; haven't had catastrophic failures, either. If you clean your weapon like you were taught in boot camp, then it'll work just fine, dude. Yeah, you may need to engage your target more than you'd like, but hey, ammo is cheap and life is expensive. I've had to live with that fact as an armed professional over the years, and so have many other police, security, and military professionals I've known over the years. Improvise, adapt, and overcome...that's the Marine Corps way, right? So, why gripe about stuff you can't change? In the civilian world you can buy better equipment. So, go ahead and buy better toys. You like your HK45 that Ken Hackathorn recommends...well, that's great! But, don't give **** to others here who like other guns. Taste is subjective, dude. I like vanilla...maybe you like strawberry...who cares as long as we each enjoy what we have, right? There's no "correct answer" to the question. --1911ShooterPhil"A gun is a tool. The US Army felt the same way. This is how the M1911 began...

Not to mention Pat Roger's article in SWAT magazine last year, "Putting Down the Man Gun: Why I Switched to 9mm".Originally posted by jessegpresleyKyle Defoor has recently posted on his Facebook...
"the most accurate handgun I've ever seen, heard about or fired. I couldn't make this 1911 malfunction either. And by the way.....that's chambered in 9mm."
I doubt his man card will ever be in jeopardy.

chill out calraider. This thread is for information. If you wanna talk **** on 1911s don't buy one and let those who enjoy them do just that.
We all bleed red and all the good guns shoot lead.Comment

As mentioned earlier, ignore his opinions. He is talking out his ***.
He just posted again the old article about the HK45. I assume if Vickers stated he would choose a RIA 1911 as his secondary weapon he would be on the RIA boat.Comment
