lols..im glad you're in love with your P7.. im sure it shoots like a charm.. part of the idea of the comment was to steer waingro into realizing that if HIS P7 looked anywhere near that color.. 1000 bucks was likely a bit high..

it also struck me as "odd" that someone would post a LARGE picture of their P7 when it's a very poor example of how aesthetically appealing they can be...one of the most famous people on the 'nets regarding the P7M8 would be k.lunde.. his P7's are wonderful samples of how they can look.. the original bluing is suppose to be near black..i know that in some cases, the heat treating process does this to the metal (happens to stamped sigs as well) it's just that yours is the worst example i've ever seen on a P7.. I know it doenst effect the functionality and Im sure it's one helluva of a tack driver.. IMHO, it's one of those things that only a "mother would love". since you indicated that it was a police trade in, im hoping you got it for a great price..

i hope i didnt ruffle your feathers..

btw, that was an expression.. dont take it literally, im not calling you a bird.

This gun does not have the plum, heading off to DROS now. I shall return with less money and a horrible 10 day wait as well as a small case of the "is it worth it's?"

Where exactly is the gas piston? Is it the thing attached to the slide with the grooves in it?

I had to go pick up some tile, I stopped off in Riverside and took a look. (Is that weird?) and the slide matched the frame perfectly. Real excited to shoot it.

How can I avoid my slide of P7M8 getting to be a plum color like that? Why is his like that?

Waingro, i believe the plum look is the police issue in germany and not down to heat or similar wear.

Back to your gun and your on going agony and sleepless nights of wondering did you do the right thing.

Hell if you end up not liking it you can probably sell it for more than you paid for, i think you got real lucky, in as far as you found one for this price and in excellent condition.

Its also complete with the box and paper work.

I just did the same thing you did, yesterday, yes with a HKP7 M8 i saw it in the case and buckelled at the knees, run home and jumped on line asking the same dam questions you did, kind of like looking in the mirror, reading your blog. Now before you start crying, now that you know i got mine down to $800 from $825, i have to tell you there is a bit more wear on the edges than how you discribed yours, but over than that there are no scratches, its an earlier model i believe than yours and has Chantilly VA on the slide this is were it was shipped into from west Germany, then they moved to sterling VA then on to Alabama. this is what ive learned yesterday threw fellow calgunners, im not trying to be an expert.

Anyway you got a screaming deal, mine only comes with one mag but the way i see it - is a HKP7M8 is a great find no matter what just look at that build quality no plastic there my friend.

If it wasnt you it would of been somebody else grabbing that pretty gun, congrats i carnt wait to see it up on calguns in the picture thread.

They get like that if their owners don't STOP TOUCHING THEM... the police in W germany were the same way, kept unholstering them to show all the frauleins.

It's plum because its an HK Limited Edition called the "Pflaumenkuchen Edition" , HK only made a total of 50 of this beauty, for the GAPF (German Association of Plum Farmers).

Actually, the surplus police gun was the P7PSP... M8 differs in that PSP was lighter (less heat shielding) and had a non traditional (for the US) mag release.

Waingros M8 commands up to $500 above what your typical PSP goes for.
