Well, Glock pistols are junk. I personally witnessed the field strip lever fall out of a Glock 17 at my local range . Cheap, polymer frame Austrian crap. If they're giving them away to law enforecenent agencies, the guns must be worthless. I wouldn't own a Glock pistol if it were the last gun on Earth and a zombie apocalypse was in progress.

It is the fact that everyone talks bad about them without really having any experience with them. The ignorance drives me crazy. I have a couple, and a couple s&w's and a CZ and glock, and an xd. The Taurus 617 I have, is great. Only thing that I would not say is up to par with my 686-6 is the trigger. Has a heavier spring and not quite as refined. On the other hand, I have never had an issue with either.

The Taurus had zero malfunctions in 500 rounds

Both S&W and Springfield will honor their warranty even if your not the original owner. They did with me so I'm living proof.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Taurus 1911. I think they are high value guns. Matter of fact I've been looking for their alloy framed 9mm 1911 for some time.

I have 2,000-3,000 through my pt1911 AR, and not sure how many the previos owner had through it and I will say it is great gun. My 617 has atleast 1,500 through it and absolutely no problems.

I have 1911s from Taurus, Colt, Springfield, Wilson, and Baer. I've had two PT1911s and they are just as reliable as the others with a better trigger than the Colt and Springfield out of the box. However the finish is not as nice and I don't like the plastic grips. But for the price I can't complain. Accuracy is above average. While not my first choice in a 1911, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I don't have any experience with the PT1911, so I can't pass judgement on something I haven't used myself. I HAVE shot a few Taurus revolvers, and they worked everytime, without fail. Locked up fine. Accurate enough for me. So I have had good experiences with Taurus revolvers, and I recommend them for the budget minded. As long as it mechanically works, it's good.

Buy a used gun with a bubba'd internal part, then call Springfield -or anyone besides Taurus-for a warranty replacement. You'll be kindly told that because you're the second owner of the gun, youre SOL-unless A) the company bends over backwards to fix the weapon despite its own policies or B )you bought a Taurus.

I could run a billion rounds through a Taurus gun, and it won't be good enough for you armchair operators. Your cousin's bestest friend's sister's uncle had a bad one back in 1984, and that's that.

As far as Glock is concerned, I find it ironic that they're considered the industry benchmark when the company literally gave the guns away to LE customers. Market perception is a funny thing.

Whenever a Taurus thread comes up, it sure seems like cal gunners lineup to pile on and trash the poor sap who has anything positive to say about Taurus. I have owned a few in my life, still own two. Does Taurus have thier problems sure. But one of the lessons I've learned in life is nothing is as good or bad as people make them out to be.

Somebody kept asking for pics of Tuarus so I'll put mine up. 1911 is sold.
