I would rather buy Sig, S&W, or SA 1911 then spending extra $$$$$ on SSE to get Taurus 1911. That's just me..

Also my XD was second hand, as I was not sure if I would like shooting when I got it 2 years ago. I called Springfield when I got the gun and they transferred the warranty into my name.

I don't get it. The 1911 has been around for 110+ years. The patent has expired. There is a century available to unsderstand the design. 1911's are 1911s. The plans are the plans, the design is the design. Why would any 1911 be "crap"? If the manufacturer does not deviate from the blueprint, why should it be any worse than any other? Sure, you can have cast frams versus forged frames, but really, what difference does that make to the functioning?

If Taurus has a bad reputation, then that's that. If we're bashing it because it doesn't cost a lot, that's idiotic.

Tolerances bad. QC bad. Internals bad. Etc. The rollmark is also hideous. I'm not comparing it to a semi-custom - I'm comparing it to other entry level 1911's.

If yours works, great, we are happy for you. The same reasoning you use to try and disprove other people's anecdotal evidence can be used against you.

I've known several Taurus 1911 owners; all have had problems with their pistols ranging from badly fitted parts to a broken ejector that required a trip back to the factory to fix.

IMO, they rate at or below RIA in terms of quality and reliability. Both makes have fanbois as well as those who wouldn't pee on either one to put them out if they were on fire. My take is that you get what you pay for; if you want a cheap pistol, buy a cheap pistol.

My first 1911 was an RIA tactical ,the second was a PT1911. I speak from experience when I say the Taurus has good build quality. Remington couldn't seem to get the ejector and slide lined up on the R1 I had, but Taurus did for $200 less , and their gun has frontstrap checkering.

Both the Taurus and the Remington shot accurately. I dumped my 1911s when I realized I wasn't prepared to invest the time and tools needed to maintain the platform at home( the Taurus has a lifetime warranty, but the nearest shipping hub to me is 60 miles away). Were I forced to choose another one,I'd buy another PT1911 hands down.

I've owned several Taurus revolvers and their 92 clones in both 9mm and 40 S&W I've put hundreds of rounds thru them and still own my PT101 & Mdl 85.
I've been shooting 1911's in one form or the other for over 50 years, still own a few of them, the Taurus PT1911 popped up on another board NIB and the price is great, based on the luck I've had with other Taurus firearms I own or have owned I would have bought it had it been on the DOJ list, I don't want to do the single shot BS but that's just me.
Lots of folks base quality on price or hearsay, I base mine on experience and I've never owned a Taurus that caused me a problem.
BTW I do respect your opinions one way or the other.

If the Taurus 1911 wasn't the worst 1911 you can buy, it'd definitely be a nominee.

Is this based on your own personal experience, or what you have heard / read / been told / watched on youtube, etc?

I've read enough accounts of bear attacks to know it's an unpleasant experience, without having been mauled myself.

Someone asks you for advice on buying a Daewoo, you would just say "since I haven't owned one I can't give you any input, even though I live in this world and have read articles and reviews on the Daewoo for years; sorry".

Someone asks you how the food is at the taqueria around the corner. Even though you've seen review after review on Yelp about people getting sick, and the place is famous for it's bad food you tell them you can't give any input because you haven't personally eaten there.

A friend tells you they're thinking of going backpacking in Ciudad Juarez, but since you've never personally been to that part of Mexico you refrain from telling them it's a bad idea.

I have read plenty of good reviews. It seems half the bad reviews always posted are by ignorant elitists and fan boys like you backed by no experience with the gun at all. Matter of fact when I had questions when I was trying to figure out what was wrong with mine ( turned out the original owner put some things together wrong) your very helpful comment was something like "that's what you get for buying a Taurus." Maybe you should keep your ignorance to yourself until you know what you are talking about.

My buddy had one and has replaced just abor everything on it and still having issues..

Not uncommon for that to happen either.

When the OP asks for feedback, he is asking for actual, physical, legitimate experience based on actual use. He does not care what you read on the forumz or saw on Bubba's Youtube gun review channel. He can do a google search just as well as you can.

I have a Taurus PT-1911 in 38 super. It is just as accurate and reliable as my Springfield Loaded 1911 target 1911 in 9mm. The taurus 1911 is great and i would buy another in a heartbeat if i came across one.

Why is everyone commenting on whether the PT1911 is a decent firearm or not.
The OP never asked that, all he asked is why is it not on the CA. Approved firearms list.
Simple answer Taurus never submitted it for testing, because they did not want to pay the fee/tax or they did not want to make the necessary changes to the gun for it to pass ( not worth it )
