I've been really wanting a FNH Five seveN for a while now but it's mainly because it looks badass and feels great in my hand. Anyone know of any gun ranges in Northern CA that lets you rent one for lane use? I would really like to try it out before I drop that much cash on a pistol. What are the opinions of those that have them already.

Call to make sure they have ammo for it first. The last time I went to rent it, they did not have ammo

Shot it a few months ago and hated it. Actually had cash in hand to buy it and ended up walking out.
It recoils just like a 9 or 40. Nothing like a 22 mag.
The gun also has way too much muzzle flash and it took a bit affer each shot to let my eyes adjust.
The final nail in the coffin is its really expensive ammo, this was only a deal breaker because of the recoil. I dont mind paying a lot for a Magic round with low recoil but I honestly felt like I was lied too. My 45 recoils a lot less than the 5.7, and is faster back on target. Confirmed with a shot timer on el presidente drill.Originally posted by FranklincollectorIt was administered with a toothpick and placed on a street taco.Comment

i disagree. it recoils a tad less than a 9mm but more than a .22 mag and nothing compare to a .40. i love the way it shoots, and the way it feels, only thing i hate is the ammo price to shoot it. as far as muzzle flash goes it wasnt bad at all for me and follow up shots were pretty quick for me.

they are a completely useless gun.
-lack of tissue crushing capability due to tiny caliber.
-cant buy real AP for this and is the only point to own one
-in CA on top of both those you are stuck with 10 rounds.
-lack of ability to penetrate auto glass and retain weight.
-9mm is incredibly betterjust happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

the only useful application of this round is a ps90 and even that is being abandoned by LE due to lack of effective wounding and it must be used in full automatic. Read up on m4carbine.net ballistic discussion.just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

They are or it is?
Tell this to all the family members who lost people in Fort Hood terrorist attack.-lack of tissue crushing capability due to tiny caliber.
I've shot ss195 at level 2 vest and it went trough like hot knife trough butter, even trough two wet phone books that were behind the vest (all while tumbling and 0% deformity).-cant buy real AP for this and is the only point to own one
BUT there are numerous way to reload fmj hot (2,000fps + ) ammo that is not considered AP but will be on par. These people did it pretty well...http://www.eliteammunition.net/57x28mm_ammunition.html
So is other caliber.-in CA on top of both those you are stuck with 10 rounds.
That is actually a good thing if you would like to stick to factory ammo, some people don't like to shoot trough walls, injure/kill unintended, etc. 5.7x28mm is probably the best round for indoors as it's incredibly efficient in staying inside it's intended target or go trough several drywall's and kill someone.-lack of ability to penetrate auto glass and retain weight.
The round begins to tumble (yaw) much faster than .223 even though its a lower velocity round.
Here's why.
It's longer, thus destabilizes quicker.

Wrong, and I'm not taking any advise or believe experience of some dentist who has been proven flat out wrong. All that nonsenses on m4carbine.net is just that, nonsense.-9mm is incredibly betterLast edited by FiveSeven; 03-06-2013, 11:16 PM.Comment

crap ammo and crap gun. If stuck to 10 rounds get a .45 in a full size. .40 in a compact and 9 in anything smaller.
even if the 5.7 can bust a crap vest it's still only 5.7mm. Fyi fast 9mm can defeat level 2 as can 10mm.just happy to be here. I like talking about better ways to protect ourselves.

I hate the way the grip feels though the gun itself looks badass. I doubt ill ever own one due to the outrageous prices ive seen them going for and the price of the ammo which isn't the best type.Comment
