I am not God; just because I say so doesn't mean there has not been case law that impacts it. Also, everyone in the department can know the law but if that one officer does not, then thats ok.

Listen.... it sucks... but its the law. The cops don't have to know the laws they enforce. They only have to be able to articulate that they thought what the law was.

Any cop will tell you; its all about how they write the report. If a police officer is good at writing reports, he can get away with anything up to and including murder.

Still, I'm glad this was otherwise uneventful for him. Does anyone else get the idea that alot of police (none on this board, of course) hate the notion of us wee folk caring for our own defense?

I would gladly OC, but I don't have the kind of time to explain what I am doing to every LEO in my town. Then again, if this is what it takes to change things, then I need to re-think this.

One last thing, if he really feels that way about even HIMSELF carrying, maybe he could transfer to Singagpore
No kidding. This needs to stop like yesterday.

For anyone in Imperial County, I occasionally OC allready but felt like sending the following to the sheriff's dept to see what response i would get:

I am writing today to request the direct email address for Sheriff Loera. I would like to contact him regarding open carry (OC) of a firearm within county limits. I had personally talked to Sheriff Loera at the town hall meeting located in Desert Shores last month about concealed weapons permits. After being told by the Sheriff that my statement of good cause was not sufficent I see no other option than to open carry a firearm.

If you need any clarification on open carry laws within the state of California please visit the following link:

        Thank you for your time.

        Respectfully,

When writing to the Sheriff regarding firearms it is best not to sign your letters:

I figured that's what you'd done as well, but still chuckled at the signature.
