SSE XDS - EBR vs PRK

Ok everyone I'm trying to find the best place out of these two to do the work. I want to here experiences dealing with both places. I'm coming from the Sacramento area so both will be quite a drive (long story Valkyrie Arms fall out). Here is the info I have so far...

EBR - $99 + $25 DROS + CA Use Tax, 6 hour drive from Sacramento.
PRK - $100 transfer fee +25 DROS + $100 to do SSE. Shorter 3 hour drive from Sacramento.

Would rather go with the more dependable one. Not wanting to deal with issues again like I did with the "closing/audit" of Valkyrie Arms. I don't mind the drive if it's worth not running into issues again. I've contacted both so far and both seem nice via phone or email. Any insight would be helpful. The $100 transfer fee seems kind of excessive, but I've never done a transfer. The pistol will be transferred from Valkyrie to one of the two shops. Share your experiences please.

Im currently in 10 day wait for the SSE XDS from EBR works. He's a great FFl and you can't go wrong with. I can't speak for PRK. My total price was under 750 OTD.

Instead of transferring a gun in and paying the $99 transfer fee, why not buy one since EBR has them in stock?

Contact "We the People" in Colvis.

Might be the best of both worlds...

I originally purchased the pistol from an FFL here in the Sacramento area. The closest place that did the SSE was Valkyrie in Santa Clara. Valkyrie in the past 2 weeks have closed and are under audit. A lot of people have money/guns tied up and are trying to get them out. So I'm looking for a place to have the SSE done since I have the pistol already. EBR was not in consideration for purchase to start because of the distance involved and the two trips it would take to DROS and then back for pickup. Now that I'm stuck with a pistol that needs to be SSE'ed then those are the only two places I know that does them.

He needs a place that owns the barrel to complete the SSE, which really limits options because there aren't too many offering SSE for the XDS

Oh I see. I did not know you already had the gun. As I said i can tell you that EBR is good to go. But that is quite the drive.

EBR has a thread in their vendor forum where many of us have put our feedback. Shockingly, it might even be called the feedback thread. That would be an excellent place for you to start on the EBR side.

                    Dunno about the other.

                    Good luck!

Thanks I saw that, wondering if anyone has any comparisons. That I dont think I'll find in the feedback forum.

Have you contacted Tracy Rifle and Pistol to see if they have the parts for the XD-S? I contacted them back in late July when I was originally searching for my XD-S and they said to check back with them in a month because, at the time, they were still trying to get the parts. I didn't end up following up with them because I was able to get one through Valkyrie, but at this point maybe they have something and can shorten your trip.

If that doesn't work, maybe check with Ryan at Table Rock Arms (located in Oregon) to see if he can receive the gun, do the conversion, and then ship the gun back to a SSE-friendly FFL nearer to your area?
