Hahaha I remember when I saw Rock Island at a gun show. Was trying to sell me one of their 1911's for $400 OTD.. I was just about to pull my money out when my buddy said its a crappy unheard of company.. I guess they just started out

They are that cheap for a reason save up and go buy a spring field.. Still wish I would have picked it up that day..

No just another gun to add to the collection. Most likely will train my gf how to shoot with it.

I really want to like other pistols, but I keep ending up with more CZs.

I own both. The SP-01 is my competition pistol. Not that that is saying much because I suck BUT... of the two, I personally shoot the SP-01 so amazingly well. It's not a bash on the RIA because it is also very very accurate, but for me, I'm wimpy and I can get 9mm into the 10 ring easy and .45s ... well, like I said, I'm not a very good shot even with a 1911!

I bought the RIA Tactical because ... everyone needs a 1911, right? It is everything I want in a 1911 except that the grips and sights aren't very nice, but I think that's because RIA figured everyone swaps those out regardless of the factory ones, so why not go cheap?

If I had to chose one, then obviously, I would get the SP-01. I'm glad I have both though. I just love holding the 1911 it's just ... a 1911 darnit!

Remember to dial 1 before 911.

Forget about stopping power. If you can't hit it, you can't stop it.

Oh one more thing. With the SP-01, if you want to tune it up, it's cheap and easy. $100 or so at Cajun Gun Works will get you a gun with such a sweet SA (not as sweet as a 1911 though!). CZs are not as hard to work on as 1911s.

Oh also, 1911 has a manual safety. The CZ75 SP-01 also has a manual safety AND is DA/SA so if you are careful, you can carry it hammer down, DA OR you can carry it cocked and locked!

Also, if you get into USPSA, the SP-01 is the ticket for production division. The RIA will be Single Stack and you'll be shooting against $2000 1911s! (Not that it matters because it's the shooter who counts not the gun!)

The RIA Tactical is NOT junk, it's a very good gun. You'd be fine with either.

Oh yeah, CA legal CZ-75 magazines cost $45 a piece. 1911 mags range from $10-$30. That is unless you know how to legally block a rebuilt kit into a legal 10 rounder (it's easy).

I'm planning on leaving it stock with no gunsmith work anytime soon. Are rebuild kit cheaper then 10 rounders? I have no problems with blocking it to 10 Rd.

It also would have been better if I had found a Norinco.

And speaking of Norinco, I bought one for $100 and it's a big step up.
I'll give you $200 for it.

Sorry, the Norinco is a keeper.

Seems like I have to order the sp-01 online since I can't seems to find one locally.
