Do people keep a bed side gun?

I don't think it should be considered paranoia at all to keep a bedside gun...no matter what the situation/scenario. Protecting yourself and loved ones can never be called paranoia. Crime knows no boundaries in terms of neighborhoods.Comment

but worse comes to worse i leave my shotgun loaded, but not chambered, in my closet with a trigger lock.Comment

Ready to roll
Ruger SP101/2"/357 loaded up with Cor-Bon .357 110gr JHPs. I'll probably switch out to some form of .38 Special +P. They'll probably be Nyclads, when they put them back into production this year.
My Surefire G2 Nitrolon also accompanies me on the nightstand.
For possible multiple gremlins, my Mossy 500 is loaded up, 5 in the tube +1 in the pipe of Remmington 2.74" 00 buck with 5 spares on the butstock.
Oh, and my ole reliable doggy, Betsy is my initial perimeter defense

Why own a Ferrari and never leave 1st gear? Load that Sp101 up with some Winchester 145grain Silvertip H.P.s and call it a day.Comment

You mean not everyone sleeps with your holster on? oh . . .

My favorite is definitely having the pistol in a quick-access bedside safe (like the gunvault ones). But, I definitely keep a loaded shotgu nnot in that safe...-talking about the Sacramento "gang tax" being proposedOriginally posted by ViPER395Give me a a case of .223 and immunity and i'll solve the gang problem from that News10 weather tower crap.Comment

Well, the GunVault I was talking about has the option of using the "no-sight" touchpad (basically 4 finger grooves with a button in each that you press in a sequence that you set) or a biometric lock....-talking about the Sacramento "gang tax" being proposedOriginally posted by ViPER395Give me a a case of .223 and immunity and i'll solve the gang problem from that News10 weather tower crap.Comment

Accuracy is FINAL
Well, with my old eyes and shaky hands, I shoot any 38spl (+p or standard) load better than any .357. I'd rather be deaf & blind with hits on target, rather than deaf, blind, & DEAD because I MISSED with .357s
Also, if my wife has to shoot the SP101, she'll do much better with .38s than .357s. At that point she'll be covering me while I engage zombies with the shotgun....

92FS in a "gun safe" next to the bed. I can open it up with my eyes closed in under 5 seconds (lots of practice). It's my compromise of being as ready as I can and having a "curious" two year old. I live in a safe neighborhood which is a GOOD reason for home defense.
Here is my thinking.... "safe neighborhoods" tend to have two things. (I am not trying to knock where anyone lives with my below opinions.)
One is people with more "wealth". It tends to cost more to live in the "good" places. This means that these people tend to purchase more things.
Second is disarmed people with "wealth" as they feel safe in their "it never happens here" safe neighborhood.
The "bad" neighborhoods tend to have less "wealth" and more armed people as they want to feel safer in their "bad" location.
So being a "thug, criminal, thief, home invasion robber" which place would you prefer to rob????
By "wealth" I simply mean more items of value worth stealing. (cash, jewelery, high end electronics)
Good neighborhoods would be a "never happens here" suburb.
Bad neighborhoods would be the "generic" inner city.sigpic
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

A retired Richmond cop and old school BATF agent family friend of mine has a great philosophy. No matter what room he is in, no matter where he stands, there is always a gun in reach ready to dispatch an evil doer. His thinking is that he doesnt move quite as fast as he used to and probably couldnt outrun a perp if there was a B&E. To prove a point to he took me on a tour and showed me just what he meant.
It brought a tear to my eye.Comment
