I had that happen also, when the young lady said that I wasn't as mean as I looked, I said that I'd try harder.

I haven't been to a public range in 10+ years. My daughter gave me a membership to an indoor range in Bakersfield that said I had to shoot their ammunition. I asked them for some 375 H&H or 458 Win Mag ammo and they didn't have any, so they let my shoot my own ammo. They said that I couldn't shoot any cartridge that was faster than 3,000 fps because it would damage their range. My 22 caliber, 50 grain varmint bullets at 4,000 fps will damage their range but my 450 grain solids at 2,200 fps won't?

    I only went once.

I don’t care what kind of gun people bring to the range. They are all deadly if misused. As long as folk handle their guns safely, it’s all the same to me.

And if people looked at me, they’d likely see a bearded, long haired hippy in shorts, flip flops, and a tie-dyed T shirt.

Only guy i 'ratted' on at our private range was an idiot, who put steel up inside 25 yards at the rifle line. Not feeling like picking shrapnel out of myself, I told the rangemaster (who happens to be a friend), to 'take a look at this..'.

He made them take it in 🤣

Range Masters in Milpitas…if you know, you know. That place was full of clowns and gangbangers…the RSOs never really got on anybody. The only time I bitched was when an obvious gang type was shooting all side handle and then gets a jam. He turns around sweeping 20 people or so including my boys all the while pulling the damn trigger and trying to rack the gun. Luckily a cop was there and grabbed the gun…I went to the nowhere to be found RSO and let him have it for not even spotting this idiot.

I've only gone off once at the range I belong to. This wannabe Tactical Ted type "instructor" was attempting to show this kid, how to draw and fire from an appendix holster.
Tactical Ted turns his back on the kid to reload and while attempting to re-holster a hot pistol, the kid N/D's into the ground. After my blood pressure came back down, I brought the situation to the attention of the CRSO who also shared his displeasure with the two of them.
            Then said He unto them...
"and he that hath no 1911 designed by my servant John Moses Browning,
let him sell his garment and buy one."
And they said, "Lord, behold, here are two Glocks."
And He said unto them, "Meh, it's a good start."

            Luke 22:36-38 (somewhat paraphrased)

It's California. Karens at the range should be expected, no different than Karens at the grocery store.

Getting into someone else's business has been a California thing for a while, since around the Gray Davis period and introduction of rampant social media. With little fear of opposition by force, Californians have been emboldened to think they can inject themselves into any private conduct they want without any repercussion, where they have no business being.

It's like the Tesla vandals thing.

With no fear of being coached to cease their retardation by someone sporting their Winchester 94 in opposition as a warning, because that would be considered 'brandishing' in CA if you did, they have no measurable governor to coerce them to stop such idiotic activity, so they continue to repeat it undeterred, even encouraged by CA legislature, that it's OK to scratch a swastika into the side of a Cybertruck because your Karen self felt that was the thing you needed to do to unleash your inner Karen.

                .

During the pandemic, I taught a LOT of people how to shoot. Since they were paying me, I didn't talk politics. But if I knew they were Democrats, I only introduced them to off-roster handguns. If Republicans (or reasonably open-minded), then I used on-roster guns. When the Dems told me they loved the pistol and this is the one they wanted to buy, I explained to them how the Roster prevents them from doing that. The almost-universal reply was, "That's stupid!". I just nodded and agreed with them.

Yep, on our farm, the state forced us to fallow a couple of hundred acres and so we had nothing better to do with it.

They DID get on people...the wrong people. The RSO's there were a joke.

This is why I always keep a copy of my FAL's registration paper in the gun case with the rifle---same with my factory folding stock on my Ruger Mini 14 GB model... Their smiles always turn upside down when they see it...!
