I use an IR laser and am saving up for my bionic eyeball implant.

WRX/STI? At least it's 4 wheel drive and added downforce in the back isn't a bad thing.

I put a TLR2 on my G17, I don't really use it, but its nice having the red dot in the middle of the patch of white light. I feel confidant that I can both identify my target and put holes in it with a fair degree of proficiency.

Mostly I use it for chasing off racoons at night (but I'm getting a bbgun so that might be the new possum motivator)

Lasers are useful for low light or indoors.

They're pretty much useless outdoors in bright light at any reasonable range.

That having been said, I love the Crimson Trace grips on my Sig 229. I don't doubt that Lasermax or externally mounted lasers tend to have horrid accuracy, but when you practice for a decent amount of time with well-zeroed CT grips... let's just say that in an indoors or low light environment, I would feel FAR comfier taking a headshot with the laser than with irons in any kind of stress situation.

I don't use a laser. Never seen the point in it. The low-light argument doesn't hold water for me. Ever tried to illuminate a dark room with a laser pointer? All you see is the spot. You can't tell what the spot is on. A flashlight works much better. It illuminates the target and gives you a bright background for the sights.

Too close to use the sights? Holy cow! Point shoot!!

If you just want to have a laser for the "cool factor," by all means, go ahead. It's a free country.

I just threw a Lasermax in my G21 specifically for HD. Pretty cool unit and mine is dead-on zeroed to POI at 10 yds. Very easy to activate/deactivate from a standard combat grip, and doesn't change the external configuration of the firearm. What's not to love?

Lasers will assist in trigger control. They will also provide faster target aquisition in a similar method a red dot site does. Nothing to line up but a dot! Some lasers can be zeroed, others can't. The Insight M6 is a pretty sweet deal. Is a zeroable LAM/FLSH attachment for pistols thats under $300.

Solid Snake uses a laser........nuff said.

I purchased a Wilcox LAM for collection purposes but it will do magic on a target though its heavy!

Here's what Larry Vickers, former Delta Operator, has to say about lasers:

www.bowietacticalconcepts.com for his superb stippling. This makes them less slippery and because of the way Dave stipples them it actually enhances the appearance of the grips. I was the first to start this trend with David and I would not use a set without it. Highly recommended.

I will close this by saying if you have not tried a visible laser you should. Especially if CTC makes a pair of Lasergrips for your favorite blaster. Remember they are meant to augment the standard pistol sights, not replace them. They are simply another tool in the tool box.

No one has mentioned this simple point which cannot be ignored:

Lasers allow the shooter to concentrate his/her eyes on the target.
Iron sights require the shooter to transition the eyes from the target to the sights. If you have a target that is constantly moving in low light, lasers are the answer. Point shooting in this situation can be dangerous (to bystanders and to the shooter for missing all his/her shots). For all the other applications, iron sights can perform adequately. The real question is: are they worth $150+ to fulfill that small niche? Personally, I'd rather get the extra practice ammo. I'm not going to be night fighting agile targets anytime soon.

I use Crimson Trace rubber overmold , front actuator grips on a 1938 5" S&W Registered Magnum, and side actuator grips on a 1939 Colt National Match Government Model. The laser is invaluable in low light shooting and a good complement to iron sights at all other times. I get an extra kick from blending anachronistic technology.

My next Zodiac-style sighting aid will be a LaserMax for my Beretta Billennium. I am tooling up to make dual laser grips for a SIG P210.
