    Why lasers?

Why do you guys put lasers on your guns? I am new, but I find the sights more the acceptable for a handgun - does a laser make that much of a difference?

I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

I think they help you acquire your target faster, especially when you are under stress. . .

I have a laser on my H&K USP Tactical .45 because I honestly believe that when the zombies come (Since most of them are only active from dusk til dawn) I should be able to hit them better without looking for the sights...

lasers are good tools for learning trigger control also. They make it easy to see flinching and heeling.

in my case I have a lasermax guide rod on my HD g22. the main reason being is that if I can't get to my glasses in time the sights will be worthless to me. why not take every advantage you can get? night sights lights lasers all are tools to help you in a low light situation.

You know you posted in the Handgun Gallery? Can this be moved?

I recently slapped a $20 on-sale big 5 bsa laser on the picatinny rail of my Ruger P95. I haven't fired it yet, so it will be a test to see how well it stays mounted, but I definitely see how it would help with target acquisition, especially in the dark and/or under stress, as mentioned above.

I have a Lasermax on my baby Glock G-27 (replaces the recoil rod). I got it when I was somewhat 'new' to handguns, and I thought that it would help me if the S ever HTF. Specifically, if I am awakened out of a sound sleep at 3:30 in the morning by someone in my house, and I was too groggy to line up my sights. I still keep it for precisely that reason. My line of reasoning is that if I do not need it, I can turn it off. Better to have it in case I need it, than find out in the 1 in a million circumstances that I need it and don't have it.

Anyways, I can tell you from first hand experience, that I shoot better with the factory sights, than I do with the Lasermax. The laser will get you 'on target'--meaning that if you are aiming for a person, you will hit the person somewhere on their body. But in terms of going to the range and punching paper, the laser is all over the place. It's not going to help you hit the bullseye. If you want to hit the bullseye, turn off the laser. The instructor at my CCW also said the same thing when I asked if I could qualify with my laser. Then he said to turn it off because everyone he has seen use a lasersight, shot better with it off and relying on the sights. I agree with him completely.

It's a preference. I tried one at the range one day and didn't like it, it distracts me by showing exactly how much I shake when trying to keep on target.

Actually, would depend on which strain/variant of zombie we are talking about. If yer talkin' the "I am Legend" type of zombie, yes, they shun daylight and are only active from dusk to dawn. If we're talkin' the "Resident Evil" zombie variant, they can be active during daylight. Same with the "Dawn of the Dead" type zombie.

But don't get too caught up in the zombies that you forget the very real danger posed by Bigfoot, Werewolves, and Manbearpig.

I personally don't get lasers. I think I would spend too much time looking for the dot, and if for some reason the laser wasn't on, then your pretty much hosed.

When doing SD type of shooting, I don't really use the sights of my gun anyway. I bring the gun up with focus on the target, and if I am holding the gun right, I'll hit it every time. No need for a laser if you don't already use the irons.

Do you guys normally "zero" in your laser like you do with scopes?

depends on the kind of laser the lasermax can't be adjusted but crimson trace's can and need to be zero'd
