Lol I think a hipoint is comparable to a moped, theyre fun as long as no one sees you on or with it lol.
At first I wasnt even gonna bring it up here, I thought about registering on some out of state forum where no one knows me and asking there lol.
Never got that whole moped joke, i often say screw the world and what they think, as long as i'm happy who cares.

I owned a C9 and the worse thing i ever did was sale it. well i didn't sale it my wife kind of made me, she said if you get a new gun i want one too and what mama wants mama gets. I put over 500-600 round through that thing and had maybe two jams and both while my wife was shooting it. i was more accurate with that thing then i felt i should have been and i suck.

Not to knock the C9 at all as it's a great firearm and will get the job done any day of the week but if you want a low cost v9mm that's not so heavy (you said she didn't like one gun due to weight) look at the Sr9c. Another great pistol an like the C9 American made!

SR9C is a sound choice but cost at least 2x the price with the biggest advantage of just the weight

Yes I agree 100% with you as far as the feel of the quality, but who know maybe its a decent shooter. I figure $150 is worth trying it out, and if its a crapper hipoint has a great warranty, and if its still a crapper I can give it to someone who will enjoy it.
There aint alot of semi-auto pistols or rifles for $150 so may as well take advantage and try it out. And you should have bought it for $99!!!!
Meh, I would rather put the $135 it would have cost out the door toward a Glock, and I despise Glocks. But at least they have a better reputation and aren't quite as ugly

You just lost all credibility. How can you despise a Glock? The most reliable semi auti pistol on the planet. Very simple to use. Lol Glock is the prince of guns, AK's are the king, and ruger10/22 is the queen!

i used to own 2 hi points (9mm & .380) and liked both... i wouldnt recommend it for a girl other then just to use at the range. after i fixed the mags in the c9 it work nicely but here and there it would ftf but not often. i only shot the .380 one time but it had no recoil which i thought was cool. the only reason i sold it was because the price of .380 acp ammo. my sig p6 is surplus and holds the same amount of ammo that the hi point does but i would trust my life to that p6 because i have never had a hi cup with it in the 2 years i have owned it. oh and the best part is i only paid $350 for it...

In light of cuts in defense spending, soon the HiPoint 9mm will be standard military issue.

                          TOYS FOR THE GIRLFRIEND

If she likes it, then that is all that matters.

It is a gift right? You are not married and you went out and spent your own money on her? Even if she is not 100% pleased, you did something nice for her. So right on!

Plus, should she not like it she can always use it to help fund a gun she does like down the road either through a trade-in or

                          TOYS FOR THE WIFE

Now, if she is your wife...avoid going cheap for the sake of saving money. Usually what that really means is we are going cheap on the wifes toys so we can splurg on our own. That leads to nothing but trouble. You don't want to be the kind of husband that drives a new car every couple months while his wife drives a mini-van with 300K miles on it. Why? Because that's the guy that ends up divorced, and supporting his ex-wife and kids who now blow his money any way they please just to tick him off and who hate his guts. If you wouldn't swap whatever the toy is with her and be content...then you're not fooling anyone but yourself.

The exception to the rule is that she may actually want the minivan.

A lot of wives are frugal as well, and resent spending money on toys period. Which I imagine would be hell on a guy into guns. This is a very expensive hobby.

You guys are lucky. On my two year anniversary my GF made me buy her this Kimber Raptor II Stainless. But it's now my favorite handgun of ours to shoot so I don't mind . Last week I was hitting clays at 50 yards at the range about one out of every two shots. The HiPoint will never have that kinda accuracy but it doesn't cost $1500 either. I'd buy one and give it a shot
