Well, if you sold it, you might have a hard time ever buying one back.

Is that where SIG hides their Seamen?

I just bought one. Should I get a tetanus shot before I pick it up?

But when they get their *** handed to them on this claim they think "Oh but not the mainspring" clarifies it and the public will swallow this crap? IMHO, the OP made a valuable contribution to both SIG and the consumer. That is-
we're the customer and we don't take nicely to misrepresentation. If everyone in this thread mailed SIG a copy of that photo and the companies claim, I'd guarantee you those damn springs would be phosphate coated on every gun that left the factory. I'm not putting down the company but I believe they would be on the path to a better product with input on this issue from a constructive and concerned standpoint on the part of present and future customers. That's all..........

Umm... I may be off base here, but my understanding is that if you were to put phosphate finish on a spring it would no longer work as a spring, being that the finish is not flexible.

The thing about the Navy model (now renamed to MK25) is that the expensive little sears and prongs and levers in the pistol are all coated. Replacing the non-spring internals on a Sig is a $200+ expense.

The springs are cheap, and any good armorer would need a bunch of them anyways because they wear out.

That sucks!!!! But at least it is just a mainspring. Easy fix.

Curious, I noticed some old Sig police trade ins that have have the all components made in the US, but German made frames. Are those as good as the all-German guns?

I personally prefer a stainless slide over a carbon one (yes blasphemy) in combination with an alloy frame.

                        Any updates or progress?

I just sprung out my Sig P220 Combat this morning and when I got home first thing I did was take off the grips to take a peek and NO RUST....

Now I just hope I have no problems at the range with it today..

You know...I am going to revisit the dealer question-How well do you trust him? Perhaps that spring came out of someone elses problem gun and he swapped them. Happens all the time in the car industry. Also...any updates from Sig?

This is the main reason why i fully inspect the gun im about to purchase...Even if i have to take it apart...

It's not even as close to as bad as some people are saying. I've shot in excess of 15 "newer" ones, 2004 and up and I've never had issues. They make tens of thousands of more guns now then they ever did in the 80's and 90's. There return rate is the same and in some cases lower than most. Either way NO ONE makes guns like they used to 20 years ago.

I never had an issue with Sig, let alone most manufacturers. I had a not so pleasant experience with Smith and Wesson but I'm willing to say it was a fluke. The big problem with Sig is that while they have hired alot of new people, they have a huge demand and the new facility they bought and are moving most stuff to is precisely because of the increased demand. I read a article from someone at Sig that said it's hard to find people with basic skills to operate machines or basic math skills to program CNC machines (I'm not CNC operator, just what I heard from a employee). If anything there faring much better than most considering there more complicated than some newer simpler designs.
