+1 on the SR9c. Rugers are nothing if not dead nuts reliable, and will swallow any ammo you can feed it.

Heavy range use. The G26 will take it but the G19 will be a lot more comfortable for long range sessions.

My primary need is CCW for personal/home defense. Eventually, I'll be in the market for a premium, ultra-compact 9mm. But first I'd like to build my skills and confidence with a 9mm designed for heavy range use. So I'd like to train on something that's relatively small/thin/light, ... but not at the expense of reliability, durability, comfort, or finicky w/ammo.

Basically, a well-made gun, built to handle abuse, that's hopefully on the fringe of CCW (under 4" barrel, 1.2" wide, around 20 oz/empty ... give or take a few).

Durability concerns seems to disqualify Dia DB9, KT PF 9, Taurus, Kahr PM9/CM9 for heavy practice. I see mixed reviews on LC9, Kimber micro, CZ, SCYY. Not sure what to think of Sigs, Berretas, for this purpose. So what fits the bill?

Everyone seems to love their Glocks 26, XD, HK Others? Thanks in advance.

+1,000,000 for SR9 or SR9c

The SR9 has a 4.14inch barrel, so it's a bit over the limit, and it's 26.5 loaded (so it's probably under the weight limit). It is 1.27 wide.

The SR9c has a 3.5inch barrel, weighs 23.4 loaded, and is 1.27 wide.

Either is an excellent choice and either of them costs around $425 retail.

M&P 9c or Glock 26. They're both fun to shoot at the range. I'm about as accurate with those as I am with a full size.

I see mixed reviews on LC9

I forgot to bring this up. Aiming the LC9 is tricky, until you figure yours out - they all have a different sweet spot. It is by no means a distance oriented gun.

It's a great gun if you want a tiny one to keep on hand in close quarters, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything beyond 30 feet.

Light, strong, cheap,, pick 2.

Or pick the SR9, and you can have all three.

IMO I prefer and carry the 9c over the Glock 26 but if you get a good G19 than that's also a fantastic choice.
