Best compact 9mm designed for HEAVY range use?

My primary need is CCW for personal/home defense. Eventually, I'll be in the market for a premium, ultra-compact 9mm. But first I'd like to build my skills and confidence with a 9mm designed for heavy range use. So I'd like to train on something that's relatively small/thin/light, ... but not at the expense of reliability, durability, comfort, or finicky w/ammo.

Basically, a well-made gun, built to handle abuse, that's hopefully on the fringe of CCW (under 4" barrel, 1.2" wide, around 20 oz/empty ... give or take a few).

Durability concerns seems to disqualify Dia DB9, KT PF 9, Taurus, Kahr PM9/CM9 for heavy practice. I see mixed reviews on LC9, Kimber micro, CZ, SCYY. Not sure what to think of Sigs, Berretas, for this purpose. So what fits the bill?

Everyone seems to love their Glocks 26, XD, HK Others? Thanks in advance.

Have you considered the Kahr MK9 or K9? All steel frame construction, talk about heavy duty range use....

There is a few that I might pick, but they weigh more than what you have specified in your post.

          S&W M&P9c: 21.7 oz
          S&W 3913: 25 oz
          SIG p239 or p225: 29.5 oz / 26 oz

Any of those would be good for HD and CC, IMO.

XD9sc. That's going to be my choice for ccw. I have a XD9 tactical now and I LOVE it.

                Many thanks so far.

I'll definitely try the XD9, G26, S&W M&Pc ... sounds perfect. The HK certainly stands out on price.

Will check out the heavier the Kahrs and Sigs, but they look nice.

Noone else named it so ill throw the idea out there as I recently purchased one for my wife. Sr9c. Compact, Light, And has a magazine attachment to make it somewhat full size grip length when needed. Thats how it sold me. From what I've read, People say it is reliable and durable. Also a lot cheaper than others that were listed.

I'll throw in my 2 cents for the Ruger SR9c also. The one I had (sold it to get a EMP I wish I would have kept it) worked flawlessly I never had one problem with it and it was very accurate.

I can think of one that does NOT fit your requirements: H&K P7. That baby gets HOT after a couple mags. Sweet sweet little pistol, though!
