    Kimber Desert Warrior

Hey guys, I am looking to buy a pistol and I am not quite sure how the whole list thing works. I am interested in teh Kimber desert warrior. In the ca doj list it lists the Warrior II. In the kimber web site it is under the Custom II category. Does the fact that it is a "desert" warrior mean it isnt on the list or does it not matter. Also has anyone had any experience with this pistol.

It's not on the list. The Warrior II is, and is a pretty nice pistol, but the Desert Warrior is unavailable to you. The standard Warrior II shoots well, nice tritium sights, good finish.

so is it because of the "desert" in the name. In other words, does the name have to be exactly the same as on the list or can it be the same model but just a different color.

Because they put combat-kool "sand" colored grips on it, and charge you extra for the new name...

        Not saying Wilson isn't quality...just over-priced for a name.

The exact MODEL including color and name must ALL match.
If you want sand grips, you can buy the Warrior II and install different grips or even paint the gun another color yourself,
but you certainly can't buy a gun of a different color or with different grips if that EXACT combination is not listed.

And thus there is less crime. Ta Da! Like magic.
Oh wait, the roster isn't about crime, it's about "safety".

            I'll start over...

And thus there are no more accidents with handguns. Ta Da! Like magic.

The Warrior/Desert Warrior also dont have the Series II firing pin safety that the Warrior II has.

Thanks for the info guys. Man that roster is lame. I just dont like the color black on 1911's but I guess I can live with it or paint it......... or get a different 1911. Or move out of state....... dang so many options!

I'm with you hk-p2000, but if the listed firearms aren't renewed before they expire, they drop off the list. I've read (unsure how reliable) that some handguns will not get renewed by the end of 2008. Any input from those that know how the California extortion thing works will be appreciated. I guess its much like a "pay to play" thing for manufacturers willing to do business in Cali.

Anyway, I too am drooling over a Desert Warrior. Or even a Pro Covert II with the Crimson Trace Lasergrips.

Not as much of a big fan of Kimber these days. I hear their quality control has slipped when they expanded. Of course, I'm biased..........

Get what you want, (we all have our brands) but I'm a fan of Springfield's TRP. Great customer service, and if something breaks, they guarantee it.

Yeah it sucks, fuegoslow cause I have the Kimber catalog and it looks great; then I went to Turners in Norwalk they only had the WARRIOR, and its a bad ***** gun if they don't put the DESERT WARRIOR. I'm buying the Warrior.
