Yeah, that's why I started shopping online months ago for a cheaper source of 9mm plinking ammo that would match or beat the Fed price at Walmart. So far to get a decent deal on "factory" ammo, I've always had to wait for a sale or the dealer to waive the shipping and buy out of state.

Cabelas had the $9.99 sale for a box of 50 rounds of S&B ammo with no tax and free shipping. Decent deal and puts it about $20 cheaper that Fed at Walmart after taxes. Haven't seen the deal reoccur yet though.

And Jack Ross ammo, as you've prob read, has a good deal on 9mm reloads in both 500 and 1000 counts. 1000 rounds saves you $40 from the Cabelas deal or $60 from buying at Walmart. They also have their own brand of ammo for $210 at 1000 rounds which puts you closer to Walmart Fed prices but still $10 cheaper. You just have to wait for your ammo though which isn't really a prob if you've kept up with your stock. So far sitting on 2k of the Fed, 400 rounds of S&B, and another 400 rounds on the Jack Ross reloads.

I've used some of the Jack Ross .45acp. Fine range ammo.

I've had poor experiences with Remington UMC ammo. I avoid it like the plague. In multiple handguns, multiple calibers. I've never had any problems with WWB or Federal.

My local walmart pulled all ammo last week. Said something about the sals people needing back ground checks before they can continue selling? 2 Walmarts in the San Diego area.
