Simmer down! I never said dont buy a Glock. Did I ever say Glock was POS? You fanbois get all up in arms over nothing!
No, because saying Glocks are a POS would be rediculous, so I'll give you that. And yes I am up in arms because of your reply to the list of reasons I gave as to why Glocks are an excellent choice. Yes other guns meat a lot of the same criteria so at that point it comes down to personal preference.

If you want me to "simmer down," dont say things to get me boiling in the first place. Its not about being a "fanbois" or "drinking the koolaid," its about having sound reasoning as to why you choose one gun over another.

Im done with this. BTW, there is another thread going right now that you should check out, the "AK of pistols" thread. You should go instigate because there appears to be lots of Glock "fanbois" posting there too.

I never said Glock "trumps" anything. That list was in response to one of your fellow Glock haters who made a comment that us "fanboys" never give reasons as to why we like Glocks. That is other reasons beyond the simple fact that we own them, like them, and shoot them well.

Thats why I gave a laundry list of other good reasons to buy a Glock. Then you dropped your silly comment and emoticons on my list.

You can get a hi-point and 3 mags for $200. Cheap, but doesn't make it a 'good value.'

There's a reason XD's haven't seen any hard use where men's lives may depend on their sidearms.

When it comes to polymer, there are only 3 manufacturers that should be given serious consideration. Glock, S&W M&P, or H&K. Any other polymer pistols are nothing more than child's toys.

I'm thinking the G19, the sole reason why is because I think they perform equally. I am the weapon the firearms are my tools. The G19 has hi cap mags and a carbine that takes them. I realized I'm not looking for perfection, after all it's a polymer pistol. But knowing I can interchange mags with a carbine is what's getting me.

The XD is because I want to replace my LC9 possibly or sell the LCP. I love the XD platform and customer service. Just wish they would make a carbine and make some hi cap mags!

Just trying to see what you all might think and things to consider.

you already answered your question. why look at something else if they dont have the features that interest you, ie : carbine compatible mags.

Nice polymer childs toys. STI and a BUL M5 I personally have a polymer bul impact in 45 acp that is tack driver and reliable too.

I've shot both before. Glock has my vote. The XD is nice but feels like I'm holding a 2x4 when I shoot it. Plus, mags and accessories are more abundant and cheaper for Glocks (could be wrong).

Can you show me evidence that any modern firearm has failed more often than another when SHTF? I would like to see evidence.

As much as people knock the 1911 it has been a "battle" weapon for 100 years! It runs! Guns are not complex thermonuclear GPS guided rockets. They go bang, when you pull the trigger. The 1911 has proved how simple guns are!

Let's move on. It's Glock because I have 2 springfields, 2 rugers now onto something new. And I'm military so when I move to a free state I will have 33rd mags! Now educate me on the Generation diffs, and should I go for the 19 or 19C?

My daily carry piece is a G19. Have shot the XD and it wasn't my cup of tea but I sure liked the way it performed. I didn't see that you stated what your use is for the gun. I think that is one of the most important considerations. If you are just going to use it for a range shooter, try both and see which one you like best. If you are going to carry it concealed, that brings in a whole bunch more points of consideration. Good luck with your choosing.

It is all personal preference. Anyone who tells you otherwise is simply being disingenuous. Some guys like Glocks, some guys like XDs. Some guts like both.

I like Glocks and XDs. I like Glocks a little more. XDms are really freaking nice though, especially for the price.
                            I like S&W M&P pistols too.
And CZ, Beretta, 1911s, etc, etc.

                            I like them all.

This. I haven't shot a Gen 4 or even held one, but from what I've heard, they should be good to go now.

I personally would prefer a new Gen 3 G19 (and I'll be buying it the day I turn 21) over a Gen 4 primarily because the only "upgrade" would be the interchangeable back straps... which I don't care for. Why pay an extra $50-100 for something you won't use? Buy more ammo or mags with it.

The mag release is their selling point for many people who can't press it on a gen3 without adjusting grips. An extended release can lead to accidental release or snagging. Just depends on the person.
