I'd go with the G19. I personally don't like the grip safety on a DA handgun, too many safeties already......

If you want something the same size as the G19 but waay slimmer, check out the Kahr CW9 I just got one and it's perfect! The grip is amazing, the tolerances on the weapon are super tight. Just as concealable as an XD9 subcompact if that's what you're wanting to do.

OP, the words fanboi and mallninja are thrown around here a lot when people don't agree with each other. Go with what fits you best, YOU'RE THE ONE PAYING FOR IT ANYWAY . Those two weapons you're thinking about are both available at the Range in Fresno I believe. I would advise shooting them before buying them if you haven't already.

      JMB invented the 1911! And?

I know many cops that wish they could carry a 1911 Glock has the LE market corned from aggressive marketing. How many do you know that love their Glocks, I know "many" of them. Im pretty sure marketing isnt the only reason LE choose Glock.

I thought handguns were for fighting? Some are better than others. Glocks were designed to be pointed, not aimed. They were also designed to put the shooter in a lower, more aggressive stance when firing.

Ummm 1911 ring a bell Guess I should have specified "in their class"

All my guns are unbelievably reliable Im sure they are

So is my M9, XD, USP and 1911....Wanna race?

So is the XD, M&P, HK Not as many as Glock

I have to disagree!Ok, many would agree (see list of accomplished shooters above)

Thats a terrible analogy. I tend to take experts opinions into account when considering anything, especially a handgun that I would bet my life on....maybe thats just me. And yes, you should use what works well for you. If you dont like a Glock because of the way it feels/shoots thats fine, get something else. But you cant dispute that they are a fantastic weapon.

It's not fantastic because they don't like it. Only weapons they like and own are fantastic.......

How many of your "experts" are running bone stock OEM Glocks? The guys I know that run Glock have done just as much internal work as some have done to 1911's. You Glock fanbois swear that Gaston himself is the patron saint of handguns. The 1911 bois are the same! I was on the verge of being a 1911 fanboi, till I started shooting other guns and realizing 1911 is not my only option. I love my 1911's and plenty of pros run 1911s, but guess what I am just as good with a USP or M9. Actually damn accurate with a bone stock XD too!

this goes hand in hand with the "most" accessories than any other platform. obviously there must be issues if you have to upgrade every component with aftermarket stuff.

Ah, thanks for adding to my list:

                - Ability to make numerous modifications to fit specific needs.

I do agree with your last statement. Best thing you have added to this thread so far.

It doesnt matter if you are a Glock "fanboy" or a 1911 "fanboy." We are all a fan of one particular weapon over another.

Obviously. I have a bone stock Gen 3 G19 that has over 6000 rounds through it. It has yet to fail and I have yet to replace a single part. However it is nice knowing that there are tons of parts available when I finally do have to replace something. Maybe after 10,000 rounds I'll replace the recoil spring.

I disagree... I am a fan of what feels good and I shoot well! All my guns fit that criteria! Glock doesn't fit well for me. Its not a bad product. I just dont like the trigger, grip angle and overall feel. Hence why my vote goes for the XD.

so, 6000rds is the magic number that glock is the end all be all? im pretty sure, every modern firearm currently manufactured meets and exceeds that number, but nobody is screaming that a kahr or keltec is the best thing since, leave it to beaver. i have a gen 4, like any other gun, it will fail. keep it maintained like any other gun you own. but dont bet your life that because the rollstamp on the slide says glock that you dont have to care for it, that might be your last mistake. and if you are a ccw holder, this should be even more true for you.

Awesome, thats all you had to say in response to the OPs question then.

If you hadnt used terms like "fanboy" and "drink the Koolaid" we wouldnt even be having this silly back and forth match.

Thats just a simple first hand account of my particular weapon and experience. There are guns out there that wouldnt meet the 6k mark without at least replacing the recoil spring.

And in response to the last part, if it aint broke, dont fix it. Plus its strictly my range gun. My 26 is my carry gun. And BTW, I take very good care of all my guns.

I like saying those things, cause it brings out the fanbois like you, who get all butt hurt if someone says something bad about Gaston's glorious contribution to the world! I would do it to the 1911 fanbois too! Its in my nature to have fun. Doesn't mean I dislike you, just means I found your button and I pushed it!

Being an instigator is really productive, Im sure the OP learned a lot from you. I like to have fun too but just not the way you do apparently. You're not the first Glock hater that I have come across and you wont be the last. Im not going to let people make ridiculous statements and get away with ripping on Glocks and Glock owners. So keep pushing if you must.

There are lots of good pistols out there. I prefer Glock because I shoot it well and for all the other reasons I have already mentioned.
