I don't understand the significance of whether or not a burglary was planned or random?

Is this somehow supposed to make us look at ourselves at teh REASON our homes were invaded or burglarized? Really? It's illegal either way, right?

Sorry to be off subject but it just gets my goat!
I agree. My house got burglarized a few years back. In hindsight one of the best things that ever happened. I now have a top of the line security system and 3 safes. They made off with $8k in stuff. I made a list and my insurance company cut me a check. I then installed my security system.

I remember when it happened I was told by a number of different people that it was definitely committed by someone I knew. Every time I was told that I responded in the same way. I said "bull sh1t"

About 6 months after the burglary they caught one of the guys that did it from a finger print they took off a light switch. As I assumed I had never known the guy.

He had lots of prior burglary convictions as well. He got 6 months for breaking into my house.

When I was growing up it was common practice for people to leave the ignition key in the car. That way it never got lost. About 1965 the government started a ad campaign asking people to not do this. The propaganda poster had a picture of a car ignition with the keys dangling from it. The tagline was, "Don't help a good boy go bad." Like it was the victim's fault if his car was stolen.

Criminals have been controlling the behavior of decent people for a long time.
Politicians and criminals are moral twins separated only by legal fiction.

Make an effort to take digital camera pictures of your firearms and the serial numbers. This photgraphic proof can be very compelling. In addition they could be emailed to LE in another county/city for confirmation possibly where some serial numbers have been altered.... That last is a pretty weak reason for taking images, but the value could very well be in easily establishing insurance value..

I know your pain. We were cleared out for 30k of stolen stuff last year on labor day weekend. Perps may have been in the house when we got home.

Be glad and reminded that everyone is safe. Guns are easily replaceable. I hope it works out for you-there's never a good time to deal with a burglary but holidays make it worse. Thanks for the heads up to all of us.

Sorry for your loss, sucks to hear thieves getting away with stuff like this. For me, I took digital pics of all my guns and every angle and serial numbers. I hope this never happens to me and others, but I also have an alarm system and hidden security cameras inside and outside of the house.

WOW. Glad you go it back. I hope they find your GFs Jewelry and any other missing stuff.

Make sure to get that safe bolted down.

Talk about a good ending to a nightmare, now hopefully it'll turn great with the recovery of your gf's jewelry and other property. Although the scar of knowing some lowlife was inside your home will be in the back of your mind, its still a blessing that none of the goodguys were hurt.

But I must say, I've seen one of these posts too many and I just recently upped the ante on a new safe. I was going to buy one of those lesser expensive Cannon safes from Costco, but after seeing how easily it was to break into a safe like those, I went balls out and got a top quality rig. I certainly go all out for my firearms so its just stupid for "me" not to do the same for the safe I would store them into. I know any safe can be gotten into but I'm not gonna make it easy.

Anyhow congrats on getting back your Glock and goodluck with the rest of your gf's property.

Not to thread jack, but it's funny how things have changed. I made a website to keep track of your firearms online and everyone went around screaming that I was the government.
