I was born here - what's your excuse?

I say thank God for government waste. If government is doing bad things, it's only the waste that prevents the harm from being greater.

What kind of government do you guys got here? This is worse than California.

You do realize that pretty much everyone in California is moving to Texas or wants to right?

The government and laws in California are pretty much completely ridiculous. However, it's a very nice place to live in my experience. Take the good with the bad...

Yes. Magazines with 10 rounds or less are legal. You might want to read this article in the wiki: Moving to California with firearms

Like I mentioned though, there are no 10 round mags available for purchase for the XDM or for your CZ. I don't know about the HK. You can block yours to accept no more than 10 rounds though, and it's not that hard. Some gun shops can do that for you if you don't want to do it yourself, for example Tracy Rifle & Pistol sells (and will mail) XDM mags blocked to 10 rounds for $35. There are DIY's online. Here's one popular example: http://www.vaportrails.us/html/xdm.html

only true for the .45 XD and XDm. 10-round XD-45 mags will fit in an XDm-45. For the 9's an .40's, nope.

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

I lived in Texas before. California is a freer state in everything else except firearms. As long as you comply with the silly rules, you'll still able to enjoy your 2nd Amendments rights. Every Californian have the right to b**ch about their own state. But they won't leave..Welcome home.

Are handguns the only guns you'll be bringing? Make sure your long guns aren't assault weapons as defined by the state of California.

Your other handguns are fine so long as they have no threaded barrels, and you address your magazine capacity issues. Just register them when you get here, there's a form and a fee to pay.

Make sure you have a locking container to transport your gun in as well. Don't want to be caught in a Gun-Free School Zone, which is 1000 feet in all directions around a school's property.

If you have any desire to purchase any new guns, or if you foresee the desire. Buy them while you still can in TX. No 10-day wait. No roster (Handguns are annoying to purchase off-roster, and it usually costs you more). Then there's all the hate that sellers have for CA. If you're buying something discontinued, or interesting that would only be found via gunbroker (Or the calguns for-sale sections here... really it's pretty awesome), you can't always count on the gunbroker seller to be CA friendly. MANY say "no CA sales".
