moving to CA from texas

I'm moving to CA next year. and
i have some handguns that i'm going to bring it with me.
i was told that i need to get them registered if i move to CA, can i still use my high capacity magazines that came with guns ?

I got HK p 30 ( 15 round mag) XDM 3.8 bitone (19 round), CZ p07 duty,
walther PPQ .

No you can't use the magazines, they must be disassembled or permanently blocked. If you happen to have any threaded barrels they must stay out of the gun or have a muzzle device permanently attached. Please read the flowcharts at the top of every page to make sure everything you're bringing is legal here.

Don't know about the HK, but I know the XDM and P07 do not have 10 round mags available. I think that's the case with the PPQ also but not sure. Like Cyc Wid It said, you cannot bring those across the state line if they are assembled, and you cannot assemble them in the state. Either way, it's illegal. If you permanently modify them so they cannot accept more than 10 rounds then you can use them. I know there are DIY's for doing it to the XDM, and you can probably use similar methods for the other gun(s).


If you're thinking you might want another handgun in the future and it isn't on the CA Roster, it might be a good idea to purchase it in TX before making the move... but again... don't make the move. I'm headed back to WA in late spring/early summer. While CA has some amazing things to offer, it'll be nice to be back in a free country.

False. There's a reason there's a thousand threads about it on here and a thousand DIY's on how to mod an XDM mag to 10 rounds. They're not interchangeable. I believe the XDM magazines are wider.

i tried not to move to CA, but had no choice.i really want to keep hk and xdm.
so If i can get a 10 round magazines. i can still use the gun. right ?

And like others have said, take apart the magazines before you bring them in to CA.
