I think I figured it out. In order to reduce recoil and increase velocity, two things must be happening:

1) The lube is eating the bullet, therefore making it lighter and thus increasing the velocity.
2) The lube is making the gun heavier, thus reducing the recoil.

So, logically, the lube must be a matter-transference device. Very uber geek.
