I got a pair of VooDoo Tactical Phantom gloves for motorcycle riding purposes (much less expensive than the hard knuckle gloves actually made for riding) and have used them a few times while shooting. They work great in both situations and I was actually very surprised at how much I enjoyed shooting with them on. ...especially pistol shooting, as the strap around the wrist stiffens your wrist up and effectively helps control muzzle flip...

But if you go to a Lowe's and check out the gloves in the tools area, some of those are REALLY freakin' nice, comfortable, grippy, have excellent dexterity, etc, and would make amazing shooting gloves.

Be careful with plastic knuckles, they may be illegal if you run in to the wrong cop.

Interesting. Never thought about that. They do sell them in every motorcycle store in CA... so... I know "brass knuckles" are illegal (and saps, nunchucks, pen/can knives hahaha long list) but have to read that law again to see about gloves like this. Hmmm...

Certainly wouldn't want my plastic knuckle gloves to cause a tragic headline a la

mechanix brand gloves seem to be cheap, common, and effective when you run in a setting where gloves would be helpful.

Unless it is cold outside shooting gloves are a waste of money. I have tried using different types of gloves but my groups (with handguns) open up about 30%. It is difficult to be percise with the the extra padding between your hand and the gun. This might be different with rifles but i have never shot a rifle with gloves.

If you are going to try I would think the thinner the better, and cutting off the trigger finger down to about the second joint would help.

If you're shooting an AK for any amount of time, you pretty much need at least one glove, that handguard gets hot.

Well, in Iraq when its 130 degrees. The surfaces of your weapon are a lot hotter than you'd might expect. For people going to indoor ranges in California with a tacticool vest etc, yea I agree with you.

We would take the heatguards off our saws and bravos to lighten the load on a 6+ hour patrol. If it weren't for the gloves the barrels wouldnt be able to be swapped.

The nomex flight gloves were good, but did nothing when they got cold.

Not so much if you are a citizen training for self defense, and you don't normally wear gloves.
                    +1. Practice how you shoot.

I usually don't wear gloves, but a small hand injury was affecting my shooting. I had these and they seem to work for me.

Here is the pair I use.

They are fairly tight fitting and provide the dexterity that I want to maintain control over my firearm. Since I like it tight, I like how the seams are on the outside so they don't dig under my dainty fingernails and hurt me when I'm out hunting perps at the mall.

I believe mine are Past brand and its only one glove---it's only for the shooting hand---these have some sort of trick padding built into the palm and leave the tip of the trigger finger exposed. They work REAL WELL! I only use them while shooting my two Freedom Arms 454 Casull revolvers and also my little Kahr P45 (that little dawg bites!). Makes a huge difference and allows you to concentrate on your sight picture.
