My reluctance in buying steel-cased ammo is that it doesn't make for a very good "investment grade" round that can be held for several years without fear of rust/corrosion.

I know where you come from with that way of thinking, but if you buy sealed "spam cans" of steel cased ammo (usually Russian or Comblock), then those are very much "good" investments in my book.

Ammo which is not sealed as such like Wolf or TulAmmo, on the other hand, I would buy with the intention of shooting it out instead of storing it for a rainy day (long term, almost permanent storage).

          I love that stuff, whether it's 5.45, 7.62x54R, or 7.62x39.

there is new non-corrosive ammo stored in spam cans for long term storage. they have some type of bear ammo and the russian black and white box. it is steel cased and i believe bi-metal jacket with lead core.

The white/black stuff is Uly, Love that stuff.

Also, I keep my oh Sh!$ brass cased ammo in a sealed plastic ammo can with a couple of those lil moisture packets. Brass stuff gets nasty with age also.

I bought 500 rounds of Tula 45acp from CTD last year, and the majority of the first two boxes I shot were Squib loads. I wrote to CTD, they referred me to TulaUSA, who (I guess was "cc'd" on the original email back to me) got in touch with me within 30 minutes of getting their reply!
They told me that the lot I had was basically ALL low powered and they were taking it all back. Within a few days I had 500 brand new rounds and a pre-paid shipping label to send them the junk stuff back.

It was a first class example of Extremely good customer service!!

(oh, and the 500 rounds they sent? ALL functioned flawlessly in my FNP-45)

i have shot 50 rounds of tul out of my fathers kimber 1911, ran fine but i did notice the less "recoil" while shooting the tul ammo. i would rather spend the few extra $$ for federal or WWB.

Good practicing ammo, I do notice some flyers(probably me tho), but runs flawlessly on my Ruger p345. I do notice the less recoil than the wwb's, and standard defense ammo. Again, great ammo for $14.97 at wally in 45 acp.

                      Tula at Mt. View Walmart

I bought some Tula 9mm 115 gr ammo at the Mountain View Walmart about a week ago. As I remember, it was about $9.50 for 50 rounds.. they also had .40SW for around $12.50 / 50rds.

Of all the (cheap) ammo I recently ran through my Ruger LC9 (Sellier & Bellot, Wolf, Tula, and reloads I bought from the range.. ) the Tula ammo performed the best.

Ok they run fine but hows the accuracy on them? And also does it cause any wear on the ejector since it's steel case ammo?

Very few casual shooters would notice a difference in accuracy between Tula and premium ammo. The average shooter might even get tighter double-taps on paper due to the lighter recoil.

The cases are pretty soft steel, so your ejector and extractor will be fine.

some of the tula i've shot (and i'm getting close to 1k mark) seem to hit paper at an angle, it has a more ripping effect on paper than other brands like remington or winchester, which looks more like punch through holes. anybody else notice that?

Which caliber? The Tula ammo I've shot in .40 S&W made holes that looked the same as any other ammo out of my Glock. Same with their .223 out of my dad's Stag AR-15.

And I just wanted to clarify this: The ammunition talked about in this thread is made in the Tula armory, it is called Tula Ammo not Tul Ammo. The name on the box uses the A for both words. For some reason people miss that. Just wanted to clear it up.

45acp... come to think of it, i only noticed it one time. never noticed it when shooting 9mm or .223... could be the velocity difference.
