    TulAmmo?

Anyone heard of this ammo, I was at walmart tonight (because I saw another thread about a special on 9mm ammo), they didn't have the federal that I heard was on sale but they had this type of ammo for cheaper. It is made in russia, 50rds 9mm 155gr FMJ was $9.47 and 20rds .223 55gr FMJ was $4.97.

Their pistol ammo works great in my Glocks and Kimber 1911 (TulAmmo .40 & TulAmmo .45 ACP). I highly recommend getting a few boxes for some nice, cheap practice (at a range where steel case/magnetic ammo is ok, Burro Cyn's pistol range doesn't care).

Never had any problems with it. The .45acp feels slightly less powerful than most other FMJ ammo I've used, but it runs without issue.

Not as accurate in my opinion as some others, but great blasting ammo. I've used their 9, 380, 45, 7.62x39, and 5.56 without any issues. Several thousand rounds in all.

Glad you mentioned that. I never even thought about whether or not they were bi-metal. They sure are, tho. That's something I think they should make a note of on the box.

I agree with you, they ought to print on their boxes that the ammo is steel cased, but alas, nope.

It's very much steel cased and the bullet is bi-metal (so magnetic), so most indoor and even some outdoor ranges will ban their use. The bullet is still lead core, and it looks copper jacketed, but it's not a true copper jacket, it's just "copper washed."

This stuff would be great to shoot on BLM land or in the AZ desert or so though. Also, expect the powder charge to be lower (less velocity for the bullet) than most commercially available brands like Remington, Winchester, etc., because this is cheap Russian ammo we're talking about.

I bought a couple boxes to try them out and the boxes do say "steel case non-corrosive boxer primed" for .223 and "steel case non-corrosive berdan primed" for 9mm

You're right, I just checked some .223 and 7.62x39 TulAmmo boxes I had, they do say steel cased. But they don't mention that the bullet is bi-metal or magnetic.

I have shot about 300 rounds of Tulu through my G19, with no problems. It is loaded very light but its decent ammo. Its not too dirty either. I bought 2000 rounds of 9mm Tula before the handgun ammo scare, so its all my G19 is going to see for a while.

Brown Bear ammo is another good cheap Russian ammo brand, its real cheap online but I have not seen any in stores.

Sorry I had to point this out, Brown Bear ammo is made in Russia (former communist country) and is being sold in PRK that has a brown bear (grizzly bear) on their flag, just a hint of irony.

ive run plenty of tula through my numerous AK variants. im a little wary of feeding steel case rounds to any of my other firearms. there shouldnt be an issue though.

If you're getting into the Roosky & Chicom stuff it's a good idea to take a magnet along. A lot of that ammo has a bimetallic jacket on the projectile. Looks like copper but it's actually a sandwich and a magnet sticks to it. So even if the case is brass you can be SOL when ya get to the range.

I ran about 300 rounds through a springfield 1911 last week and it was perfect. I dont see why people say that it's dirty, seems the same as WWB or Federal cheap ammo

I've never seen any of the Russian ammo brands at the WalMarts that sell ammo near me (Milpitas, tracy, Manteca). I'll keep looking and maybe give them a try. I'll bet my Ruger P95 won't mind processing some of that steel cased ammo.
