GLOCK 19 Questions

So guys-- a bonehead move on my part. Instead of dutifully reading the manual before going for my first shoot-- out of habit, I took my G19 down and gave it a quick clean and lube. Noticed this copper/rust like stuff inside the slide and assumed it was packing substance of some sort and cleaned it off. Re-lubed with light coat of Slip 2000 on slide rails and went to range popped off 200 rounds with no problems. Come back and read the manual and it says to keep that copper/rust stuff on the gun.
So what is this stuff and did I mess up my gun by firing it without that compound on? I've shot a couple hundred more rounds thru it since and it shoots like a champ. No malfunctions. Love this gun.
I removed the grease before I shot my new Glock. That was 10 years and 8,000+- rounds ago. No issues and I only use CLP. Don't worry about it, it's a Glock.sigpic

I put Heine Straight 8's on my Glock 19 and I love them. Last week I installed Truglo Tritium fiber optic sights on my Glock 21 SF, Hate them. They are really bright, to bright for my taste. When I am focusing on the front sight the rear just jumps out at me. I am going to take them off and sell them maybe the whole gun.
As far as the G19 goes, it is hands down my favorite gun. I have had the P226 9mm, HK 45C, Kimber TLE/RL 2. My 19 is my go to gun.Comment
