Did you get to shoot a 1911 in 9mm yet? You should really try a 1911 in 9mm first before making up your mind. It's a really sweet shooting experience. It's one reason why I'm ditching my XDM and going to a CZ P01 now and maybe the SP01 later. Love the feeling of shooting 9mm thru a metal gun.

for you, a cco would be perfect probably. thats an officer frame mated with a commander slide/upper assembly.
colt made the original cco, and they are the only ones to produce them under that model name, but other manufacturers make same sized models under diff names.
in my opinion, cco is the perfect handgun in every way.

welcome to the club, once you go single action single stack, you don't go back lol

as far as my views on a commander sized 1911...I carry one pretty much every day

They are great, aren't they? Once you shoot a 1911 you just gotta have one. I hope to own a Pro Carry II one day.

First single action pistol I shot was a Browning HP. And that's when single action trigger had me. I was scared to try a 1911 because I knew I had to get one. I shot one a couple of months ago (9mm), and after buying the first one, PPT'd two this past month. Picking up the third on Saturday! =) My wallet is hurting =(

Just picked up my Colt XSE yesterday...I only need to get a Beretta M9A1 and I will never buy anything else but a 1911 pattern again. I shoot way more accurately with a 1911 than a plastic gun (M&P 45 is no slouch though).

I love my 1911. Some people complain about the weight but imo (and since I don't carry) the added weight just makes the gun better. Nothing like holding a solid piece of metal
