S&W1911 comes with forged frames...better value IMO.

Especially since I just got confirmation that the Colt/Umarex .22 1911 will not be coming to CA...

I have read comments by metallurgists who disagree with you. In the real world, has anyone noted any kind of systemic problem with Ruger metal failures? No. A Ruger product is very good surety for a rugged and dependable product. Are there occasional QC failures? Sure. Same with S&W. Both are superb gunmakers.

Anyway, to get this thread back on track, I confess that I will be very disappointed if the new Ruger 1911 cannot make California's list.

cast vs forged.....reason why Ruger revolvers had to be made much beefier than S&W revolvers.

w/o magazine disconnect and loaded chamber indicator....SR1911 will forfeit the huge Cali market.

I'd be mildly interested. But having the added expense of going the single shot exemption route takes away one of the the main attributes of a ruger, price.

IIRC, at one point Wilson Combat railed 1911 frames were sourced from Caspian...which bought the castings from Pine Tree Casting...which is part of Ruger.

Caspian cast frames are used in all sorts of expensive 1911s.

Personally, I understand the bias towards forging... if only my Glock 17 had a forged polymer frame I'd be able to have more confidence in its durability. (Sigh)

Now if they only made them in 9mm....

That gun looks pretty good. There is a nice photo of the trigger on gunblast website...it looks like it was fit really well. You don't see that too often!

Ruger did add a Loaded Chamber Indicator to the gun. Not sure if it legally counts in california though. I don't know what the law requires.
