    Ruger SR1911

I just received an email from Down Range TV annoucing the new Ruger SR1911. I looked like a Dan Wesson 1911 w/o the front cocking serrations and the SR1911 is entirely made in the good ole USA. It looks really promising. It's MSRP is $799. An excellent first 1911 for people starting out.

I've been looking at 1911s for a long time. Pending Ca availability, this will probably be my next purchase.

So what does the MSRP of $799 translate to in the real world?

Hope they don't load it up with too much crap. Tho personally, I'd rather have the owner's manual stamped on the slide instead of some uber tacticool buzzword. My ideal would be a clean, satin slide with a small logo ala PM7 or the like but I doubt we'll see that from Ruger. Good call to leave off those *#^&$* forward serrations.

We'll see... I like Ruger bottom feeders. I doubt their SR1911 is gonna make me get rid of my KP90 tho.

Unless they added a MDM & a LCI; neither of which are in J.M. Browning's design this will not be on the roster. But you will be able to single shot it.
              Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

There's the rub. Plenty of good 1911 out there that are PRK legal without those. Ruger needs to do something special to make me want theirs. Made in USA is a good selling point, but that thing better have something else the others don't...

Single-shot exemption from a Leadership FFL is the way to go
(or modified outside of CA to be dimensionally-compliant single-shot per 12133PC and then shipped into CA to your FFL).

This'll be a nice gun, and Ruger will likely drive down 1911 prices in a year or two.

I wonder if they're still using Comet or BonAmi as trigger lubricant, however

They also need to offer Commander, Officer's ACP and LongSlide profiles. And they of course need a 10mm in the lineup, as well as versions using double-stack magazines.

i sure hope so....Ruger rules IMO.
if Ruger builds "IT"....1911 buyers will come.

now Ruger needs to build a full size M14 to compete with Springfield.

Ruger's website says it's based on series 70 design. That means no FPB. It really surprises me that Ruger would make a weapon without it.

If Ruger's MSRP is $799 that means it's going to be in the $600-$650 range in a couple years max...
