Most folks missed the FN HP's on the market a few years back in the $400 range. Foolishly I only bought 1. Should have bought 10 at that price. I have a very small family of HP's and always want more.

The CZ is nice, but I prefer the HP.

The HP as we know it owes more to Saive then to Browning.

My belgian made and assembled is still my favorite shooter to this day and I own a variety of handguns. I would sell all my guns before I even thought about selling my HP, probably why you don't see too many for sale they are just too great to sell.

        back to the op.

Hi-powers are too expensive (new) for what you get. (Now if someone made a $500+ new HP id grab one in a second)
Its almost like since the Nazis used them for a duration during WW2 they became some kind of godly gun like the p38 and luger.
Don't get me wrong Iv shot my dad's FM browning Hi-Power and its a wonderful gun. But with all the advances in todays firearms and how well the 1911 has stayed alive these past 100 years.. the Hi-Power is more of a show gun than anything else IMHO.

This is a strong "in the running" post for silliest so far in this thread.

With it's use during and post WWII, the HP is soundly one of the most widely used service pistol of all time. The 1911 has nothing on the HP in terms of service. It is still the standard service pistol in many countries around the world.

Have you seen the Arms in Libya thread? Tons of HPs.

Wish they were cheaper. I can get a RIA Tactical and still have money for 45 ammo compared for how much they are going these days. I miss the FEG Hi power copies or Argentine ones.

I was referring to the American market. (their too expensive here for what you get) I know Charles Daly made a cheap $500+ HP a few years back but I have not seen one recently.

My point is.... you can get a 18 round cz/sig/h&K/glock/beretta for cheaper than you can a HP.

Why would I want one of those instead of a HP?

That doesn't mean you're getting a gun better than or as good as a Hi-Power.
                    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

You seriously think a HP is better than a glock or cz in durability? and longevity?

I wish that damn roster wasn't there. SOG's current flyer has FEG clones for $249.95 and Kareen II's for $259.95 and III's for $269.95.

I did get a nice FM-90 Hi-Power as a gift from my Mom last year.

Yup, been around since 1935. 75 years of Military use around the world speaks for itself.

                            ps,
Thanks for the props on my FM-90

I have a Belgium 1976 production HP. it is certainly the finest semi-auto I have ever owned.

While here in the US the 1911 rules the day, in the rest of the world the HP is the #1 pistol in terms of use by the military and police forces. I would be willing to bet that there are more HPs and clones (only counting true clones and not just similar pistols) world wide than any other pistol.

The CZ does have a similar feel to it, and while many people like the CZ, I never really liked the idea of a DA pistol without a decocker of some sort.

From most accounts FM90s are just as good... (and much cheaper)
