    Transporting a handgun like this?

I have always transported my firearms in locked hard containers, but I recently read that the PC does not actually define a locked container. Thus my question is...is it legal to put a lock on my shooting bags zippers and transport my handgun as pictured (unloaded, but alongside my loaded magazines, ammo and other shooting gear) when going shooting, hunting or otherwise?

Looks good as long as you make 100% sure that you can't open the bag with the lock on. Sometimes, this is possible with dual zippered bags.

IANAL, but i believe that that would be legal under the letter of the law... even the intent of the law. Whether or not a police officer would share the same view... I do not know. But I've done the same myself in a pinch. I don't have a hard case for my Glock, and have done the same thing last couple of times to the range.

Thanks for the responses. I hate carrying around that bulky plastic lockable container and then having to lug two things into the range at one time. Its always a jugling act trying to manage the pistol case, range bag, targets, etc.

Thanks INJUNTOM. Picked the bag up this past weekend at a gun show in Nor Cal. Best $30 I have spent in a long time!

i do the same but with a backpack. one of my backpack pockets holds my pistol and 4 mags with a flashlight. i also use the holes on the zippers to lock it.

Guns in trunk, mags in car? Wait! I just thought of something - how do you carry guns + mags in a pickup?

                    Serious question

I tape the mags to the roof, and hang my ammo bag from the tow hitch.

the magazines and weapons do not need to be separated they can be in the same space in the vehicle. They can be in the same container. DO NOT put a magazine in the weapon.

I sometimes keep a magazine in the magwell when I travel with it.

                              Negative. It's empty.
